Pinkie Pie VS Gold Ship (My Little Pony VS Umamusume)
Somepony’s about to die… of FUN!
Pinkie Pie, Equestria’s Element of Laughter from My Little Pony.
Gold Ship, the untameable Red Strife from Umamusume.
Throughout history, mankind has always had a special bond with our second best friends in the animal kingdom: horses! Today, however, we have the privilege of witnessing a clash between the two most all-powerful, unpredictable agents of chaos and Friendship! to ever grace the equestrian encyclopedias. Strap in, and place your bets wisely, because a race like no other is about to begin, and no there’s no telling through all the chaos to come which of these hallowed horses would (or wants to) win a DEATH BATTLE!
Before We Start…
Both Pinkie Pie and Gold Ship hail from many different forms of media. While some are better known and recognized than others, there’s a wide variety of options to choose from on both sides, and they are both armed with a wide variety of surprises that you might not traditionally expect. For the purposes of this match and the similar levels of zaniness both can provide, we’ll essentially be looking through all official appearances for both.
In the case of Pinkie, this means pretty much any official My Little Pony media is on the table. All 5 generations (though the main focus will obviously be Generation 4, of course), alongside their television shows, manga, mobile and console games, tabletops, books, etc. This includes spin-offs as well, such as Pony Life, which while somewhat dubious for a more traditional match, in a more all-encompassing match like this, is fair game and will be brought into the fray as well. This also means items or abilities Pinkie has used at least once in the canon before will be here, in the spirit of going all in for this battle.
Umamusume has multiple different timelines spread across the game, anime projects, and various multimedia like the manga and Youtube shorts. For the purposes of this blog, we’ll be looking at Gold Ship across all official Umamusume media, as the series generally does not have a strict, definitive timeline or canon. Furthermore, Gold Ship herself is one of the few characters to essentially ‘transcend’ canon with her shenanigans (PakaTube), which we’ll get more into later!
The exception for both of course is crossover scaling. We’ll be very upfront about this: we are NOT considering avenues of scaling derived from entirely unrelated series, no matter how canon a crossover may be. While items, abilities, or tools that either party might acquire in crossovers such as with Transformers or Granblue Fantasy are fair game and will be considered appropriately, direct stat scaling to characters from these franchises is prohibited. Pinkie will not be scaling to any Cybertronians or what have you, and likewise, Gold Ship’s stats won’t be hinging on a brief collab with Granblue. Stats are entirely focused on My Little Pony and Umamusume, with no exceptions. After all, we’re here to examine Pinkie Pie vs. Gold Ship, not Transformers’ cosmology vs. Granblue Fantasy’s cosmology.
Also, Umamusume as a franchise is still ongoing with no signs of slowing down (seriously, this franchise is now Cygames’ biggest breadwinner) and official English translations aren't available for everything yet. Terminologies presented within this blog may differ from official translations later down the line, and some information on Gold Ship’s end is primarily in Japanese, as it’s the only language said information is available in. We appreciate your understanding if some tentative translations are of lower quality for the time being.
Our mission statement for this blog was to comprehensively cover as much of both franchises as possible. For characters that are utterly unbound by traditional limitations like these two, we felt the best way to present this match was to go all-in on every facet of their capabilities. This doesn’t necessarily mean that every MLP or Umamusume match should or should not follow the same standards; these are just what we deemed the most appropriate for this specific pairing.
With all that being said, please enjoy the blog!
Background
Pinkie Pie
Legends of Equestria speak of the Elements of Harmony, astonishingly powerful artifacts reliant on traits that embody the greatest aspects of Equestria and its citizens that can turn the tide in even the darkest crisis. They represent the things that are good and virtuous, the aspects of one’s self that makes life brighter for all others and brings about harmony for all living creatures. When created by the Pillars of Equestria, these elements embodied sorcery, strength, bravery, healing, and beauty. But these elements would over time grow and embody new, similar traits. Magic, honesty, loyalty, kindness, and generosity.
But of course, there was a sixth, originally created by the legendary hero Somnambula, the bearer of Hope. For no darkness can truly triumph so long as a shred of hope remains, and Somnambula’s cheer in even the gravest perils would become something new, an unflinching, unbreakable light in the Laughter that encourages all in life. And a new wielder would of course come about, as laughter’s champion would eventually be a baker from the small town of Ponyville. Her full name is Pinkamena Diane Pie, but to all of her friends, which is basically everyone, you can call her Pinkie Pie.
Pinkie’s beginning is certainly a humble one, not that she cares. She was born and raised on a rock farm, where they handled, you guessed it, rocks. Pinkie’s life was rather dull and grey at the time, but one day, her world would be turned upside down by the astonishing shockwave of a Sonic Rainboom, the sight of which amazed her. Given new energy by the incredible sight, Pinkie became determined to share her happiness and newfound joy with all the world around her through any means possible, becoming the excitable and energetic mare she is today. To that end, she became a baker and party organizer that would later move to the nearby town of Ponyville to pursue her career.
Successfully getting a job at the town’s bakery Sugarcube Corner, Pinkie would live her life contentedly, serving tasty treats to the town’s denizens and becoming their number one party manager. But life wasn’t out of surprises yet, and her world would change again with the arrival of one Twilight Sparkle, protege of the ruler of Equestria, Princess Celestia. Twilight had been sent on a mission to restore Celestia’s younger sister Luna without even her realizing it, and the adventure would result in the discovery of the Elements of Harmony, with Pinkie becoming the bearer and master of laughter. From then on, Pinkie would become one of Equestria’s greatest heroes, battling and defeating great evils like Queen Chrysalis or Lord Tirek, while even witnessing the healing or reforms of foes like Luna or Discord, the Lord of Chaos himself.
With many wonderful friends always there for her and many exciting adventures to go on, to say Pinkie’s life was busy would be no improper claim. But even in spite of all the twists and turns, Pinkie always kept her greatest focus on the goals that mattered most to her: brightening the lives of those around her. Her priority was always the smiles of others, to cheer them up when they're down, help them with their struggles, or just give a simple bit of kindness on a gloomy day. And on any occasion, Pinkie would be there to celebrate and make the most of it, leading her neighbors and friends forward in the times of joy and happiness.
While it might seem simple, to make things better was all it took to fuel Pinkie’s own happiness, and truly prove why she was the rightful master of her element after all. Even many, many years later into the future, when Pinkie herself is long gone, her legacy and actions remain known and beloved, followed by the similar missions of spreading happiness by ponies like the craftspony Izzy Moonbow or the entertainer Pipp Petals. Because in the eyes of Pinkie, no matter the difficulty, the hardship, or the pain, if you manage to make the life of another a brighter one, then it will always all be worthwhile in the end.
Experience & Skill
Pinkie Pie
Pinkie Pie has seen and done it all. She’s traversed through time, battled for the fate of Equestria more times than you can count on all four hooves, baked a cake too big to fit out the door (more than once), won the turkey call, kept pace with Rainbow Dash, and so much more. All silliness aside, Pinkie Pie’s fields of skill are vast, and she’s amassed a wide array of experiences in both the cosmic and the mundane. As the Element of Laughter, Pinkie stands as one of the last lines of defense for the fate of her entire world against enemies great and small. With this in mind, it’s no wonder that she’s fought and defeated the worst of the worst in Equestria’s lineup of villains, from the persistent Queen Chrysalis to the terrifying Lord Tirek. As such, Pinkie’s come to be a surprisingly good fighter in her own right, being able to keep a heavily amped Queen Chrysalis busy for a substantial period of time even in her base form or outright beat down Cozy Glow just by being the better fighter. With the number of world-defining battles under her belt, it’s just natural that Pinkie is more than used to dealing with absurdly powerful or reality shattering threats on a relatively frequent basis, and she’s seen reality tear itself apart and then prevail regardless more than once.
On top of that, don’t be fooled by Pinkie’s comedic and playful nature. She’s noted to be the one pony in the Mane 6 that matches and in some cases even surpasses Twilight Sparkle in intellect, the pony who can solve spells even the greatest sorcerer in history Starswirl could not or casually charting astral alignments in just a few seconds. She can memorize Applejack’s concerns over situations rapidly down to the triple digits, has practically memorized the names, interests, traits, and birthdates of her entire town and several extra friends, and is consistently able to spot obvious solutions when everyone else is distracted by the bigger pictures or cliches. She can learn how to do pretty much anything she wants in a relatively brief time, and has been able to as such become skilled in a wide variety of things, from baking, to sports, to comedy, to wrestling, and a lot more. She’d even likely be relatively similar to her friend Rainbow Dash, a karate black belt, or Cheerilee and Rarity, the reigning champs of wrestling across the entire nation of Equestria! With her wide array of cosmic fights won, various random skills, and astonishingly sharp mind and quick thinking, there’s really almost no situation that Pinkie doesn’t have the experience to find a solution or come out on top, and she’s only going to keep getting better as the shenanigans in the world of Equestria march on.
Equipment
Pinkie Pie
Party Cannons
One of Pinkie Pie’s most treasured belongings is her beloved party cannon, the perfect tool or weapon to make any scenario into a party, or to celebrate being happy about something, or to shoot somebody right in the face. Do not be fooled by the party cannon’s oddly cute design and the fact that it shoots confetti and party supplies of all kinds. This thing is multi-functional, and serves a wide array of uses. Pinkie can use it to unleash supplies onto the battlefield for herself, or even jump inside and fire herself to get around quickly or be a pony cannonball. And of course, the cannon can be used offensively, and despite the fact that its ammunition might not seem like much, it has a weirdly good track record of dealing good damage to victims.
Pinkie’s artillery has consistently been able to one-shot Changelings, and her smaller bazooka variant was able to knock back Cozy Glow when the latter had been heavily amped to the point of becoming an Alicorn. Speaking of variants, party cannons are actually an established product in Equestria, with new models and designs coming out all the time. Pinkie keeps up well with these releases, and she has numerous models of her favorite tool, from the classic blue cannon she defaults to, to the bazooka, to tiny cannons that fit in her hoof. She even has much bigger, ultra massive cannons that she and all her friends can fit inside at once and be fired out of, being strong enough even to break through the Storm King’s Alicorn magic fueled tornado without any issues. So if Pinkie ever needs to break out some heavy artillery or just make the area look nice for festivities, she’s got the perfect tool for the job.
Instruments
There’s no need for a group, because Pinkamena Diane Pie is a one mare band. And she has the ultimate musical setup in all of fiction. We’ve got a tuba, a trombone, a banjo, a harmonica, an accordion, and even some cymbals! That might seem a little ridiculous at first glance, especially trying to figure out how she manages to play them all at once, but the denizens of Ponyville have just accepted it as one of her many quirks. And she actually manages to make it all sound really good. While this might not seem all that useful here, Pinkie has historically been able to use her musical instruments to great effect, making use of music to lure off threats, distract or bewilder targets, or just lighten the mood. This can allow her to clear the board clean of large groups of pests or jam an enemy’s senses, and if all else fails, those cymbals pack a wallop.
Silly String and Soap
It’s integral for all good entertainers to have lots of silly stuff. And our resident party pony has a lot of such things, among them being some of the most absurd silly string imaginable. It gets everywhere. Over the walls, on the ceiling, in one’s mane, all over them in general, and there’s basically no end to the stuff. Worse still, this stuff is abhorrently sticky. It’s almost impossible to get off! Those ensnared by the wretched stuff are almost certainly doomed to have their movement wrecked by this junk. But that’s why Pinkie has a secret weapon to get rid of it.
Alright, fine. She got it from Zecora. And it was meant for Rarity but the labels accidentally got switched. But Zecora’s soap is no joke, with Pinkie basically washing the entire bakery while cleaning off the Cake twins. Good for staying clean and getting any nasty stuff off of you. And for not being dirty. Being dirty stinks.
Fireworks
(Are we sure that isn’t just a nuke with Trixie’s symbol on it)
A bunch of fireworks and missiles that Pinkie bought from Trixie in a back alley at midnight, because she didn’t think that was in any way suspicious. To be fair, Trixie’s fireworks are notoriously high quality, and her skills in pyrotechnics are no joke. Maybe a bit too high quality. Some of these things are basically just colorful nukes that ponies shrug off because their town is always blowing up. Needless to say, Pinkie has a ton of these things given Trixie’s rather concerning supply of explosives, and they make for a great way to make stuff explode while also looking genuinely fabulous. And maybe showing off Trixie’s ego a bit.
Potions
Potions are a relatively common tool in Equestria used to make magic for those not more or less not able to otherwise. Generally made famous in concept by the legendary Mage Meadowbrook, one of the creators of the Elements of Harmony, other characters have learned how to utilize potions as well, most notably being Zecora, a reliable ally of the Mane 6 on many occasions, or Apple Bloom, who has begun picking up the skill due to her friendship with the former. While Pinkie has never really bothered to teach herself how to make potions, that’s not really an issue, as she happens to be sponsored by a rather skilled creator, Potion Nova.
Potion Nova magically restocks Pinkie’s supply of magical goodies on a nightly basis, ensuring that she always has a sizable amount to utilize at any given time. And thanks to these apparently tasty treats, Pinkie has access to a wide array of random abilities. She can massively boost her speed, take on the appearance of others, or make herself glow. Likely most notable though is Potion Nova’s “antidotion,” which can cancel out other abilities directly as an antidote to bizarre shenanigans. Most directly, it is capable of automatically rescuing victims from being sealed away, such as when it could free Twilight and Applejack from being sealed inside a bottle, making it where Pinkie has a tool to get out of jail free if she finds herself in any bizarre sealing binds.
Cybertronian Suit
(Transform and party on ‘til all are one!)
A specialized piece of Cybertronian technology created by the Decepticon scientist, Shockwave. These suits were created for the Mane 6 to give them the power all Cybertronians hold, transforming into an alternate mode, so as to effectively do battle with their allies against King Sombra. In Pinkie Pie’s case, she transforms into a version of her beloved Party Cannon, being wielded by the Decepticon leader Megatron to great effect. While it may seem silly, Optimus and Megatron were able to effectively defeat Sombra and Scorponok in only a handful of hits, showcasing the tremendous power these forms hold in battle.
Magic Mirrors
(Now I’m kind of hungry…)
A magical mirror that belongs to Twilight Sparkle but has been used just as often by Pinkie, this mirror has the ability to look into and connect to infinite parallel worlds throughout the entire multiverse. Twilight somehow managed to blunder and get it stuck looking at Equestria 628, a world nearly identical to the one we all know and love. However, Pinkie and her alternate self would discover that the mirror can also be used as a gate to these other worlds, enabling Pinkie to go on a trip throughout realities for some brownies. Pinkie can essentially use this to reach any destination in the multiverse she desires, and it can also be used to summon every single Pinkie in existence to her location for aid, quite literally unleashing a swarm of infinite Pinkies on one location. Fortunately, Pinkie gets along extremely well with her many, many alternate selves, all of which are glad to join the fun in whatever situation they’ve found themselves in, so if Equestria’s best party pony finds herself in a pinch, she has her own back, because she can count on her selves to tip the scales back in her favor. And likely throw a party of multiversal proportions while they’re at it.
Vehicles
Unsurprisingly, Pinkie has a hoofful of vehicles that she can utilize for getting around quickly or to areas she might not normally be able to reach. She also happens to be one of the two denizens of Ponyville with skills in the field of aeronautics (alongside Cherry Berry of course), and as such she has some aircrafts that she can take to the skies with. There isn't a lot to go over, but they’re worth listing real quickly.
- Helicopter: A pedal operated helicopter that Pinkie owns. This allows her to fly around with her pegasi friends and hang out in the sky. Likely good exercise as well.
- Hot Air Balloon: The iconic hot air balloon in the show’s opening that is also in various episodes. While the balloon is generally suggested to actually be Cherry Berry’s property, she’s fine with lending out the balloon to other ponies, and Pinkie has used it before to keep up with and commentate on races.
- Giant Bicycle: A very, very big bicycle. Good for getting around quickly and would likely hurt if Pinkie ran somebody over with it.
Miscellaneous Equipment
Pinkie has a lot of random trinkets lying around that she likes to use. It’s almost scary how much random gear she has on her at any given time, so we might as well take a moment to go over some of the silly stuff that this party pony can bring into the foray. Or a party. Or any other situation she might get up to.
- Joy Buzzer: A prankster classic, this little device delivers an electric shock to those that fall for it.
- Suction Cups: Tools that Pinkie is able to use to climb on walls or around the ceiling. They work shockingly well and enable her to get more or less anywhere she desires.
- Welcome Cart: One does not simply walk into Ponyville without a traditional welcome song from Pinkie Pie herself. This nifty tool comes with music, a confetti cannon, and an oven with a cake ready to go, so long as she doesn’t mix things by mistake and put the batter in the cannon and the confetti in the oven. Again.
- Stealth Gear: Good for sneaking around all sneaky like. Works great with cardboard boxes.
- Camo Gear: Good for sneaking around all sneaky like. Works great with bushes.
- Flugelhorn: FLUGELHORN
- Giant Megaphone: Sometimes you just have to make sure Rainbow Dash hears you. That’s why Pinkie has this tool on hoof, making noises so loud that she can literally shake entire mountain ranges with just a shout.
- Crossbow: It’s a literal crossbow. The hooks it fires are real and are not for decoration or to be used as a toy. Would likely hurt something awful if you got shot by one of these.
- Giant Vacuum: She has to clean those parties somehow when they’re done, and what better way than a giant vacuum? Sucks up literally everything in the vicinity in a matter of seconds to make for easy cleaning and storage.
- Grappling Hook: A classic tool that our favorite pink pony can use to scale walls and the like.
- Giant Anchor: When the winds are strong or Pinkie wants to root herself in place, she uses this giant anchor to keep herself where she wants to be, getting a strong grip on the area no matter the weather. That said, it’s a really big anchor, and would likely be devastating if she hit someone with it.
- Peanut Brittle Confetti Bomb: You may think this is peanut brittle, but it’s actually a confetti bomb. Devious…
- Giant Costumes: Changelings trying to replace you is a very real threat in Equestria (before Season 6 anyway), so in a showcase of remarkable foresight, Pinkie made giant costumes of herself and her friends to wear. These don’t serve much combat function, but they are rather cute, and make it outright impossible for Changelings and other such imposters to take her place.
- Astronaut Gear: Well, a mare can’t go into outer space without an astronaut helmet, duh! That would be dumb.
- Giant Fan: It’s a giant fan. BLOW ALL YOUR ADVERSARIES INTO THE NEXT ERA.
Grogar’s Bewitching Bell
(To a hope we all must cling, let the bell of freedom ring!)
One of the most powerful artifacts in the history of Equestria, Grogar’s Bewitching Bell is a symbol of oblivion or victorious hope depending on the wielder. Originally mastered by the nefarious Grogar and containing his astonishing magic, it was captured by the heroic Gusty the Great and hidden away by the mare since ancient times. In order to stop just anybody from being able to use the bell’s absurd power, the bell requires knowledge of special spells to activate its magic, and only then will it respond to one’s commands. Including Grogar and Gusty, only 7 beings in Equestria’s history have displayed the ability to wield the bell’s true might, and against all odds, Pinkie Pie stands amongst this number.
Armed with the power of Grogar’s Bell, Pinkie is able to do a lot of things that few in Equestria can match. Most obvious is the bell’s absurd ability to absorb the powers of anybody its wielder wishes. Even beings capable of resisting power absorption most of the time like the Royal Sisters and Discord are immediately subdued by this weapon, having their magic sealed away within for the user’s purposes. This can be done offensively and defensively, being able to actively steal one’s abilities or allow the target to attack and steal their magic without attacking or fighting in turn. Also worth noting is the immense magic stored within. Pinkie Pie in particular is able to use the bell in order to access the magic of Discord, being able to use his magic uninhibited unlike the bell’s other wielders. As such, this tool gives Pinkie extremely potent power absorbing abilities and unrestricted access to the whole of Discord’s powers, while the requirements for use also make it where the bell cannot be swiped and used by other parties against Pinkie, making it a risk-free and extremely effective tool for all scenarios.
Abilities
Pinkie Pie
Toon Force
Likely one of the most defining characteristics of Pinkie Pie is her ability to act in ridiculous ways even most other ponies (key word being “most”) cannot replicate, acting more like a traditional cartoon character than her fellow cast of cartoon characters. Don’t think too hard about it. This is generally known as “toon force,” and it enables Pinkie to do essentially whatever silly nonsense she desires at the time as the scenario sees fit. She can squash and stretch her body to fit her needs, float around, ignore gravity entirely, or fall apart like a pile of LEGOs without suffering any true harm. Really anything that might be funny at the time, she can likely do.
Notably, toon force in MLP does not appear to be an innate ability, but rather a skillset that one can actively learn and master through exposure and practice. While Pinkie was initially the only one of the Mane 6 with these powers, occasionally in the show and more often in the comics, Rarity is shown to have many of these same abilities, with her bewildered friends just having to come to the conclusion that her extensive time hanging out with Pinkie has enabled her to learn the craft and swiftly master it herself. While all of the Mane 6 have displayed these sorts of abilities on occasion, Pinkie and Rarity are notoriously far superior to the others in these powers, showcasing an impressive level of skill and the ability to actively hone the powers rather than it just being something one randomly does.
That said, “toon force” is a very broad catch-all for a variety of abilities, so for the sake of organization, it would be best to just quickly go over the various toon powers she has showcased across her time, outside of cases like 4th wall awareness and regeneration that will be covered in greater detail later.
- Teleportation: A toon classic! Why run down halls normally from the big scary monster when you can just randomly appear in the nearby filing closet without explanation? Or in the refrigerator? Or really anywhere you want. It’s not your traditional teleporting, but this enables Pinkie to pop up anywhere she wants at will, even inside really small areas or places she normally shouldn’t be able to access.
- Gravity Manipulation: Gravity has no meaning to this mare. She can climb walls without suction cups, go up a flagpole vertically just by walking, float in place, just halt her freefall and go down slowly instead, or even float upside down off of items instead of falling to the ground. She can even go up slides instead of down!
- Shapeshifting: While she can’t change everything about her appearance like a Changeling, Pinkie can morph in a variety of ways all in the name of silliness. She can use her mane like a drill to go underground, or inflate her head like a balloon and float away. She can squash and stretch her body like any classic rubberhose toon, or make body parts appear on the other side of the room from her. She can even multiply parts of herself, once even making herself have 17 hooves all over the area just because. Don’t question it.
- Animal Communication: She can communicate with frogs and crabs somehow. Maybe she took lessons from Fluttershy.
- Hammerspace: Another toon classic, Pinkie traditionally chooses to horde stuff in her mane. Party Cannons, cake, random tools, whatever it is she needs at the time. Useful for having stuff on hoof in case of emergencies.
Pinkie Sense
The townsponies of Ponyville say that “if Pinkie’s a’twitchin’, you better listen.” There’s a reason for that. All members of the Pie family are gifted with a unique and bizarre “sense” ability, giving them capabilities that other ponies tend not to have. Pinkie’s elder sister Maud, for instance, can use her Maud Sense in order to accurately track down whoever she wants to find with disturbing precision. Conversely, Pinkie’s sense gives her a head’s up on various random events in the immediate future. Falling objects, mud puddles, incoming threats, opening doors, or wild and absurd “doozies” beyond normal description, Pinkie can see them coming and be ready. It’s a lot more vague than something like a Spider-Sense, but Pinkie has grown quite used to her powers and memorized all the various warnings, so what is normally not all that useful has been honed into a razor sharp alarm that can enable her to escape any threats. She can use this to dodge things, and even navigate a collapsing construction site while rescuing numerous workers unharmed despite numerous threats coming down around her all at once, a good showcase of just how potent she has become with her ability.
Time Pony Physiology
The multiverse is a rather big place. While the adventures of Twilight Sparkle and her friends stand as some of the best known tales of good throughout the flow of infinity, there are other forces of good and evil doing battle across existence. And many times, the forces of darkness may choose to cheat, and begin to manipulate time itself for an advantage. In order to combat this, a high council exists throughout space and time, tracking evildoers to take them down before they can do damage to countless timelines. But these missions don’t always go smoothly, and messing with the rules of time can have consequences. Every so often, a bystander might get caught in the mix, and if impacted by just the right sort of chronal anomaly, they may become one themself. While rare, these ponies are no longer like their fellow equines, for they are now living paradoxes in and of themselves, unbound by the conventional laws of time. These anomalies are called Time Ponies, and they are blessed (or cursed depending on your perspective) with abilities like no other can replicate.
Time Ponies can become what they are in a variety of ways, generally having no identical incidents. In the case of Pinkie Pie, she became unlinked from time due to the evil Professor What forgetting to carry a two in his Ouroboros Equation, shattering her link to time and rendering her like other Time Ponies like What himself or Star Dancer. As a Time Pony, Pinkie is outright immune to the negative effects of many sorts of time manipulation. Most notably, time loops and retconning events out of existence does not work on her like it does on other ponies. Sure, she’ll be thrown back in the loop like anyone else, but she will always remember the events of each and every loop, be fully aware that time is being messed with, and can use that to her advantage. Even incidents that have been fully retconned out of ever happening whatsoever are not thorough enough against a Time Pony, as Pinkie and her fellow time hoppers were able to remember one such incident even after it was entirely undone.
Of course, there are other perks as well. Pinkie is able to freely enter subspace pockets that nobody else can go into, interact with her past selves freely, flow through Limbo, an area outside of time and space’s flow entirely without being frozen in a non-temporal stasis, and more. That said, Time Ponies are known to not exactly be fond of the fact that they’re stuck in temporal situations nobody around them tends to be aware of, and Pinkie is no exception. This has made it so that more often than not, they despise time loops and constant rewinding, and are going to do everything in their power to terminate the cause of the issue the second they get a chance so they can resume their normal lives. Pinkie’s no different, even resisting the bribe of an eternal party just so she could finally shut down Professor What’s loops for good, saving the multiverse from his threat, and it stands to reason she’d feel the same about any other time looper messing up her life. As such, one should be absurdly cautious about the idea of trying to manipulate time against Pinkie, because she’s going to be very aware of what’s going on, and she will journey through the entire multiverse if that’s what it takes to set the timestream right.
Immersion
Likely one of the less frequently used but still valuable abilities that Pinkie holds is being able to enter into other objects through immersion. She rarely uses this, but on occasion, she can enter into things like mirrors in order to access areas she previously was not at, such as to monitor Twilight and make sure she’s keeping her Pinkie Promise. Or just look intimidating, I suppose.
Duplication
While obviously more of a toon force ability, Pinkie’s ability to make copies of herself is something worth giving some attention to. While the mare is well known for her ability to make clones of herself utilizing the Mirror Pool, that situation didn’t exactly work out very well, and was entirely dependent on a specific location, even if one Mirror Pool clone is apparently now living in Manehattan. That said, as time has gone on, Pinkie’s need for the Mirror Pool has become irrelevant, as she has somehow picked up the ability to make clones just at will. Yeah, she can just do it, no strings attached. These clones can act independently of one another and maintain Pinkie’s intelligence and behavior, so the flaws of the Mirror Pool are entirely averted, and they seem to have all of the same abilities given they are, of course, also Pinkie Pie. She’s shown the ability to make 2 clones at once for a total of 3 Pinkies running around, though nothing suggests this is her maximum limit, of course. Sure to make any party all the more fun. Probably.
4th Wall Awareness
Of all the powers that Pinkie Pie possesses, there are few, if any, quite as well known as her ability to see beyond the 4th wall. That said, it should be clarified that while Pinkie is by far one of the most proficient masters of the fourth, it’s admittedly something that pretty much everypony does. Not even just some of the main characters, even the random background characters are more than happy to just shatter it if they think it’s funny any given day. While Pinkie is notoriously the best of the best at this, other ponies have been able to call out scripts and how stupid they think they are, directly talk to the audience, joke about how many pages they have in the comic, or even directly know what’s going to come in the future, because they’ve already read the script ahead of time. They have complete knowledge of their media and what they’re doing, and given most of the cast seems to think messing with the wall is absolutely hilarious, they’ve all developed a frightening level of skill in these sorts of shenanigans, and Pinkie can interact with the story or call things out more or less however she desires.
Plot Manipulation
Of course, messing about with the fourth wall is one thing, but actively messing about with the story and world, that’s a whole other thing. Pinkie’s meta abilities aren’t THAT good, right?
Wrong.
Ponies can do that too. And yes, they get a kick out of doing this as well. And naturally, Pinkie is by far one of the best at it. Numerous characters that Pinkie is comparable to, such as Rarity and the Storm King, are able to turn the pages of the comics they are currently on, or even just rip away control of the story from the narrator entirely. From there, they are free to do as they desire with the story, controlling the captions and comics to mess about in whatever fashion they desire, and others like Applejack can also just force changes entirely thanks to also being able to speak to the narrator. Twilight and Pinkie are able to completely exit episodes entirely to block it from ending and continue on with their business beyond the show, and Discord is able to completely recreate the entire narrative and genre from the ground up if he so chooses. Notably, Celestia was able to completely no-sell these complete narrative alterations by Discord, so it’s only natural that Pinkie in her higher forms would naturally be capable of coming through such plot attacks unaffected as well, enabling her to both make changes or defend herself against them as she desires. That said, while Pinkie, like most characters, enjoys messing about and having fun, she does generally try to keep the story going along its natural path and encourages the narrator to do his best and aid everyone in having fun throughout. She’s unlikely to directly weaponize these abilities to narratively change somebody into something they aren’t, though if one tries such tactics on her, she will likely tap into these powers to set things straight.
Regeneration
Another rather well known ability in Pinkie’s bag of tricks is her capability to bounce back from all kinds of damage and dismemberment at will. Pinkie’s regeneration is extremely formidable, going far beyond a mere healing factor to recover from serious wounds or lost limbs. Other ponies like Rarity have survived having their heads lopped off and remained alive just fine, and Pinkie herself has fallen as a pile of Pinkie parts and then just… rebuilds herself. Of course, she can go far beyond that, and in Pony Life, she’s able to casually recover from bursting into a lump of confetti and instantaneously recover no worse for wear. Even more terrifying, Twilight Sparkle and a random side antagonist are able to recover from complete and absolute physical annihilation, both of which Pinkie should reasonably be comparable to without question. As such, actually killing Pinkie is nigh on impossible, as quite literally any and all damage one does to her physically is just going to be ignored, and one will have to resort to more supernatural methods of trying to keep her down for good, and even that may run into some complications.
Miscellaneous Spells
(None of this magic stuff makes sense.)
There is a lot of magic in Equestria, and many of them can take different forms or come with different abilities. Thanks to her higher forms, Pinkie can reliably tap into these abilities like Discord and Harmony Magic can, enabling her to do just about anything. There are far too many random and bizarre forms of magic in the series to go over literally everything here, but let’s quickly touch on some of the major ones.
- Changeling Magic: Shapeshifting! Lots of it, really. Changelings can change to basically any size and shape they desire, even something as large as a Hydra, though they are limited to having to be “living” creatures. They can’t turn into something like, say, rocks or whatever. Fortunately, another species known as Mimickers are able to do the exact opposite, able to turn into anything that’s not a particular creature. Thanks to these, Pinkie can change into… basically anything she wants.
- Dream Magic: Princess Luna’s most iconic ability. This enables one to enter and manipulate the Dream Realm, or alternatively lock others out. One can view, control, or affect dreams, while others like Discord or Celestia are able to entirely lock dreamwalkers out of their sleep entirely to keep their nights to themselves.
- Love Magic: Yeah it sounds dumb, but Princess Cadance’s abilities are extremely potent
when used by literally anybody other than herand can make the difference in many scenarios. Love Magic is able to generate massive blasts that can make enemies pull a Team Rocket… somehow, and is also good for healing. The Changelings in particular were able to finally heal from their biological changes cast on them by Celestia in ages past once they finally started to truly tap into love’s actual power, restoring them to their biologically whole forms and making them look a lot less scary as well.
- Time Magic: There exist numerous different spells for manipulating time. Twilight and Starlight in particular have been known to use or confirm the existence of spells to speed time up, slow it down, or travel through it. Pinkie can go to basically any point in time she desires thanks to Chaos Magic, and via certain spells, can even make changes to the past to impact the future. Spells and technology also exist to outright stop or lock out time entirely, making dealing with matters all the easier as the enemy is basically locked in an indefinite chronal stasis.
Tabletop Abilities
(Hard to get actual images of a tabletop game)
Everyone loves games, unless you hate fun. And if you hate fun, why are you here? As it turns out, My Little Pony has a handful of its own games, and these come armed with lots of unique RPG spells and abilities for characters to use. By getting higher rankings, skills, experience, the usual RPG fare, characters can learn a variety of magical abilities and powers to aid in their quests.
But Pinkie is special. She has the magic of Discord at her best, and the game guides very specifically make it clear that he knows and can use every spell. All of them. And given Pinkie can do everything Discord can like this, it’s only natural that she can too! So get comfortable, because there’s a lot of magic here, so let’s go through them all by each class! (Special thanks to Noah Green for help in getting resources.)
Elementary Spells
- Adapt: This nifty spell enables one to gain something they need to survive in an area they otherwise couldn’t. Underwater? Now you have gills! Surrounded by magma? Some heat resistance can triumph over even the toastiest dragon’s lava lair. Night vision in the dark, warmth in the cold, cloud walking amongst the skies, you get the idea. Essentially any generally dangerous environment, this spell can suit you up nicely.
- Automate: Brings items to life to fulfill their tasks. Make your pen write for you. Or a broom does your sweeping around the house. Just don’t make them grab buckets of water. Mickey Mouse learned that the hard way.
- Barreling Beam: Need to get some distance? Send your target barreling away with this beam! Can knock others a sizable distance, and in the event of a critical success, it can even knock them into danger, such as off of a cliff.
- Bloom Banquet: Makes it so that one can accelerate the development of plants. This makes it so that they can do all the cool stuff plants do sooner. Bloom, give fruit, kill zombies, or just look nice. Great for gardening.
- Brilliant Sight: Massively enhances the user’s sight so that no amount of darkness can obscure their vision. Even magical darkness is entirely useless against this handy ability, and it can be further buffed to also enable seeing through fog or other obstructions.
- Chilly Filly: It may sound like it just makes you cold and is thereby useless, but this magic actually enables one to lower the temperature of anything they want. Got caught on Death Mountain without Goron Gear? This has you covered. Is the room getting too hot and the AC busted (the Florida experience)? Not anymore. Your frozen treats are melting!? Hurry and use this! It can’t be used to cause direct harm, but if one gets this used on them for too long, the natural issues that come from being really cold can and will kick in.
- Cloud Art: Enables one to change the size and shapes of the clouds in the skies. Good for making cool sky art, or sending sky mail, or annoying the local pegasi whose jobs it is to manage clouds, stuff like that.
- Common Ground: Sometimes things should just be talked out. And if the language barrier gets in the way, then this is the spell to use. This enables both parties to understand one another, languages and all. It also makes the target more willing to hear you out, so you can give your side of things.
- Cozycoat: This nifty ability makes you entirely immune to basic bad environmental issues. You stay entirely dry in the rain, clean in the mud, warm in a light snow, that sort of thing. The immunity breaks against magical changes or extreme conditions, so don’t go into a lightning storm or anything, though it does still dramatically weaken the dangers and makes you last to feel the effects. This is mainly designed for maintaining comfort, as the effects can still harm you, but your body does not suffer weariness from the conditions for an extensive time. Great if used in tandem with Adapt, which maintains weariness but does solve the extreme or magical issues, essentially each handling the other’s weakness.
- Disguise: Magically disguise yourself for sneaking around and infiltration.
- Enchant: This enables the user to better know how to accomplish a task or action.
- Energy Beam: LASER
- Fluttery Wings: The target receives some beautiful wings, like those of a butterfly. These are functional, and absolutely enable flight. Also looks great.
- Foalscarrot: If you need somebody distracted for any number of reasons, this is the magic for you. Foolscarrot creates an illusionary version of something the target desires immensely, regardless of what their interests may be. It distracts them and dramatically weakens their ability to do other tasks or actions that don’t involve trying to collect the “object,” but no matter the method they try, it is entirely impossible to actually get it. This makes it where they can be led away, distracted for an attack, or snuck past. If they have reason to start suspecting an illusion, they might be able to ignore it after a bit, though it can likely take some time.
- Get To Know: Gain information about a target and the things they do. This can be used to learn more about how they behave, things they enjoy a lot, or even how to do the stuff that they do well.
- Glow: Literally what it says on the tin. It makes you glow. Really bright. It’s cool.
- Granny Smith’s Sugarpine Sap: Glue stuff together. It’s basically just glue but without all the dark and horrible glue jokes you’ve likely been making as you read this blog. Yeah, we’re onto you, you know you have been!
- Greased Lightning: The user becomes absurdly slippery for those interacting with them. Just forget about trying to grapple or hold them down, and if they were already in such a state before, this makes escaping dramatically easier.
- Healing Bandages: The user’s very touch is able to heal and undo damages and wounds. Great for medicinal purposes, and easy to apply at any time with a mere touch.
- Help Yourself: If you want something done right, you should just do it yourself. Fortunately, you have yourself to help you. This creates an illusionary clone to lend a hoof, which is intangible and immune to all forms of damage barring magical attacks. It can’t do much, but it’s always able to give assistance in tasks at any time to give some aid.
- Hot To Trot: Helpfully warms you or somebody else up. And of course, it also makes the user or target faster, so that’s also cool.
- Hoof of Returning: Create a magic glowing horseshoe that can be used to grab and move items from a distance. It can only move stuff at a max of 10 pounds, but that’s still better than nothing.
- Instant Grooming: So, some loser shoved you in a mud puddle. Or you stumbled into a bush and now have sticks in your mane. Or you fell into a trash can. Good thing you have this! This ability immediately freshens one up, restoring them to pristine conditions of cleanliness, as if they just got out of a bath. Additionally, it also cleans up your accessories and other such things, such as hats! It can also be used in reverse to make yourself or others absolutely filthy, if you’re a jerk or need a stinky disguise or something.
- Lancing Beam: LASER
- Magular Spectacular!: Just some illusions that make everything you do look like magic. It has no real practical usage at all. Great for the show biz or entertainers, though!
- Pack Mule: Stuck dealing with an irritating speedster with a case of “gotta go fast,” or maybe you need a quick edge in a fight? This oughta fix ‘em. The victim of this magic is immediately reduced to a state of feeling heavily encumbered, as if they are shouldering a load or burden they can hardly bear. Dramatically lowers the strength and speed of the victim.
- Rope Trick: Makes a magic lasso to do lasso stuff with. The lasso’s ability relies on magical skill rather than actual lasso skill though, so a mighty magician like Discord or Celestia can do just as fine if not better than, say, a member of the Apple Family.
- Quickfix: Fixes your dumb stupid stuff that literally broke at the dumb stupid worst time. It only lasts the duration of the spell and still needs to be in overall one piece, but it’s extremely good for emergencies or lasting just long enough until you can get a replacement or make actual repairs.
- Shower Power: PINKIE PIE USED HYDRO PUMP (this spell enables the user to fire a mighty blast of water from their hooves for cleaning or direct offensive usage as one desires)
- Start A Party: Literally just triggers a party and all the fixings for it. Decor, food, music, anything you need. Of course, it’s customizable for any sort of party you might need, like birthdays, or weddings, or graduations, or anything else. Lasts until sunrise or sunset.
- Summon Shield: Raises a barrier of sorts to protect from incoming attacks.
- Teleport: Exactly what it says on the tin.
- Toasty Temperatures: It’s literally just Chilly Filly. But in reverse, this makes you warm and snug.
Superior Spells
- Basic Shape-Shifting: Transform into a relatively basic form of whatever you want. You don’t get any stat buffs or change size, but you do look like them and can get things like wings or claws if they come with the form. Still good for sneaking about.
- Bestow Expertise: Enables one to become able to specialize in any skill they desire.
- Big Honking Boom: Unleash the might of the average Dragon Ball transformation by shouting really loudly. This magic shuts down any sort of audio defenses and can be heard from a mile away.
- Danger Bell: Creates a magical, invisible chime that cannot be detected by anybody other than the user. This little bell detects and alerts the user to incoming threats, both traps and hostile attackers. This renders all forms of stealth and traps useless, enabling the user to always see danger coming. Even if one is asleep, once the chime detects danger, it can immediately awaken the user and give them full alertness on the incoming threat.
- Don’t-Notice-Me-Field: The user of this spell becomes totally silent and invisible. Great for stealth! The user can be detected by users of even stronger magic and is impacted in such a way, and it also wears off upon harming another being, but it is still an excellent way to launch a sneak attack and finish things in a single shot if doable.
- Explosive Beam: EXPLODING LASER
- Fireball: The DnD classic, or something. Burn EVERYTHING!
- Flower Power: Creates a dangerous plant in a 5 by 5 foot cube area. It is a lovely plant that has many beautiful blooms, but it contains some sharp thorns hidden below that can harm those foolish enough to get too close or caught by the growth. Can also be used to ensnare targets in the botany.
- Glittermane: Makes your mane glow. It’s cool. The sparkles can also be shaken off to lighten the area or make a trail.
- Hitch a Ride: Walking is for losers. This spell creates a magical vehicle that can fit about 10 ponies within, and is able to drive itself across both land and sky. The vehicle can be in any form the caster desires, so it can be something simple like a basic wagon or a hot air balloon, or more modern like a car or a small plane. You can even go as crazy as you want with it! A dragon! A UFO styled like a cupcake! A flying dolphin! Literally anything you want to get around.
- Illusion Confusion: Foolscarrot got a direct buff thanks to this better version, now guaranteed to confound and irritate all your enemies! Need that distraction? Illusion Confusion makes an even more tempting illusion that also adds audio lures to bait the victim in for an unclaimable goose chase for a whopping 15 minutes for you to use as you see fit. Of course, the victim can break out if they think an illusion is the cause, but given how much better this is, that’s likely not gonna happen.
- Mystery Sense: Used for getting clues or finding objects. Good for puzzles and cheesing escape rooms.
- Painter’s Hoof: Enables one to generate paint on their hooves. This can be used for… exactly the sort of stuff you and I use paint for. Making cool pictures, or marking stuff, vandalizing tunnels, that stuff. Can also be used on an unwilling victim so that they’re stuck generating paint. They thought they could escape? Not when they’re making paint every step they take.
- Pollution Solution: Absolutely and utterly destroys all contaminants, poisons, toxins, etc. in a surrounding 20 foot area around the user. Can be used to save the user from getting killed by toxins in the air, or to purify water for drinking, or any other use you may have from cleaning an area up. And let’s face it, what’s not to gain from saving your lungs from inhaling poisons?
- Rightkey Wrongkey: Changes the functions of 2 keys to work on opposite locks. Great for pranks or getting in a door if you want to change keys, or alternatively locking somebody out. Also works on locks themselves, with identical functionality to the keys.
- Smoke Beam: LASER THAT MAKES YOUR ENEMIES BLIND FOR A WHILE
- Sparkle Blast: LASER FOG
- Summon Armor: A set of magical defensive armor protects the wielder. Guaranteed to fit the user, so that’s helpful.
- Take Record: Records data or events the user experiences. This data can be stored in a variety of ways however the user sees fit, such as an illusion displaying the events, a book recounting everything, or any other method of showcasing events Pinkie pleases. It can be gone back to and looked over for information at any time.
- Teleporting Beam: LASER… except this one also teleports those hit to wherever the user desires. That’s admittedly new.
- The Stare: Fluttershy’s iconic ability, now usable by others! Those hit by it suffer the same effects as those Fluttershy uses The Stare on, and become hit by the Frightened status.
- True Sight: This enables you to see the truth in all things. Items that are invisible or magically hidden are revealed to you, and no stealth spell can escape your vision and detection. You can also see the true forms in all things, so those that have shape-shifted or are disguised cannot fool you, and you know the truth about what they actually are.
- Togetherbind: Enables two creatures to be telepathically linked. Once linked, the two become aware of each other’s locations, actions, and can communicate mentally at all times for the magic’s duration. Can also be used on an unwilling target if the user is able to successfully cast the attack magic, forcing a link so both are tethered mentally and can track each other or communicate.
- Waterrunning: Makes you run across water. Who woulda guessed? Also enhances one’s movement underwater so that they can basically fly down there.
- Wayfinder: This spell enables the user to locate the quickest possible route to or location of an individual or item they are familiar with. The more familiar you are with the target, the easier the spell. This also tracks their movements for the duration of the spell. Excellent for finding someone or something you’ve lost, or for keeping track of someone if you’re apart at the time.
- Zip It!: Makes the victim of the spell quite literally shut up as long as the magic is active. Great for blocking someone from leaking secrets or information, and if you’re against somebody that relies on vocal commands for attacks or magic, this could be absurdly devastating and shut down their entire means of fighting back.
Virtuoso Spells
- Beam Volley: MULTIPLE LASERS
- Bellowbreath: Enables the user to breathe out an absurdly potent gust of air that can blow everyone and everything away.
- Block Magic: Contrary to the title, this does not entirely shut down one’s magic entirely. It does, however, make it dramatically harder and more draining to tap into magic, making fighting or doing stuff a lot harder and taking more strain and effort.
- Doorway: Creates a magical door that is linked to any other door the user desires. Maybe it can take you back home from across the world, or sneak into somebody’s house to set up a surprise party! So long as you have seen and touched the linked door before, you can link it here. Also good for making a quick escape and getting back to home base to regroup in a jam.
- Extra Sensory Projection: Enables the user to project a magical avatar of themselves with their minds at another location or with another individual. The user is aware of what is going on at both locations, and is free to communicate at both areas at once. This is solely meant for communication and interaction, rather than to do things like attack from afar, though it is still good for gathering info or keeping tabs on things from a safe distance.
- Harmony Unleashed: This causes the user to utilize their “personal perception of their best self,” massively amplifying their abilities that tie to their Cutie Mark, making it where those abilities can be done with much greater ease.
- Lightning Speed: A useful spell that doubles the user’s speed across the board.
- Lullaby: Creates a beautiful song that makes anybody in the area go nighty night. It lasts for four hours or until the target is forcefully awoken through things like being disturbed or attacked, but once awake after the 4 hours, those that were in the area awaken with all the benefits of a full and proper night of sleep.
- Mind Beam: LASER… that doesn’t actually deal damage. Instead, it deals a nasty mental status condition to the victim in any of the following methods that the user desires.
- Calm: The victim is rendered entirely non-hostile and can be freely spoken to by the user without a battle. After the spell ends they may become aggressive again, and of course if attacked, that’ll break it too, but for now it’s a great way to talk things out, or if you’re brutally devious, get in a free hit.
- Confused: The victim forgets entirely what they’re doing, and just starts making random movements in random directions. Might also invoke trauma in Pokemon players. The target will not walk into danger like off of a cliff, but they forget about the situation at hand and are generally helpless.
- Frightened: Congrats, you are now your target’s greatest fear, and it isn’t even close. Your prey is absolutely terrified of you, and cannot get any closer to you than they were when hit at all. Also seriously impairs their ability to think straight and be rational about the matter.
- Impaired: Makes the victim less skilled at… literally everything they do.
- Stunned: Completely locks down the victim’s ability to do literally anything, freezing them in place in a brutal stun lock. The target is still able to perceive the events and dangers around them, but their ability to act in any capacity whatsoever is entirely negated, leaving them helpless against whatever fate the user has in store for them.
- Ookie Spookies: Transform into literal spirits and do all the cool stuff ghosts do. Float around, through stuff, traumatize your friends, etc. Being a ghost is likely kind of fun, so enjoy not being tethered to the physical realm for a while!
- Panacea: The greatest healing spell ever, Panacea is an all encompassing heal that cures literally everything. The ability completely terminates any and all conditions afflicting the user, such as debuffs, status effects, illnesses, etc. Additionally, it also restores the user back up to maximum health, regardless of who they may be. All physical damage? Gone. It can work on any type of creature in the land as well, so those spiritual sorts like users of Ookie Spookies? It can heal them too. It can even restore users from defeat and death if used, so if one manages to trigger this spell in time, basically any damage on the physical or spiritual planes can be terminated, restoring the user to maximum health in an instant at will, basically anytime they desire.
- Pinkie Sense: It’s just that thing Pinkie does.
- Ponymorph: The user shapeshifts into a perfect copy of the creature they wish to mimic. They gain all physical traits, stats, and abilities, and are free to do with that as they may please. They don’t gain any magical abilities, but this is a great way to infiltrate areas or match the might of a physical threat giving you trouble.
- Revolutionary Shape-Shifting: Transform into any sort of creature you desire without any drawbacks. You cannot become a specific individual, but any general creature is free game, and you can gain all of the stats and physical traits that they hold. Their strength, speed, and any traits like wings are copied perfectly… and enhanced. You are free to transform into any size you want to match your needs, and you automatically gain enhanced stats that outclass even your target in whatever they specialize in.
- Rock Candy and Soft Taffy: Transforms natural stone malleable, and things like clay sturdy and tough.
- Scarefying Appearance: Make yourself look like a ferocious, terrifying monster. Makes you bigger and notably scary to enemies around your level, and also comes with customizable advantages like wings, claws, or enhanced toughness or strength.
- Self Improvement: The user increases one of their stats for the duration of the spell. This can be for things like speed, strength, intelligence, etc. It also comes with a defense boost on every use and can be used multiple times if one desires, so one could keep buffing their stats further or learn new abilities on the fly thanks to heightened intelligence, so long as they have the magical might to trigger new spells.
- Softenblows: Uh oh, your enemy finally closed that gap you’ve been trying to hold. Is this the end? It sure isn’t, thanks to this remarkable magic! This spell is guaranteed to drive your adversaries up the wall, because for the duration of the magic, it cancels out all forms of attack and damage. Anything that’s a threat is transformed into something harmless and fun right as it’s making an impact, leaving you safe and sound. About to get slashed up by some claws? They’re now soft and fluffy pillows. A projectile is being launched your way? Now it’s just some festive confetti. Even magical attacks are rendered totally useless, as this shuts the attacks down entirely. Note that the duration of the magic is short, but still extremely useful to ruin your adversary’s day and ruin their “finishing blows” or things like that.
- Super Sticky Celebration String: It’s literally just the silly string that Pinkie owns.
- Temper Tempest: An extremely powerful but risky offensive spell, this magic conjures up a mighty lightning storm that is tied to the user’s emotions. The angrier the user, the stronger the storm, and the victims targeted are consistently getting struck by lightning with more and more fury as the fight goes on. That said, the storm is tied to this anger and feeds on it, so one could lose themself to the storm and start targeting everything in the area. One needs to be careful not to go berserk to the magic or find a way to calm down once their adversaries are dealt with, and only then will the magic end.
Magic of Friendship & The Rainbow of Light
(Literally what happens before 75% of the villains on this show lose.)
The title says it all. Friendship is Magic. But we mean that very literally when discussing Equestria, because friendship is the key to the most powerful and devastating form of magic in the entire series by a landslide, culminating in the terrifying form of the Rainbow of Light. The Magic of Friendship and Harmony is the final and greatest trump card the defenders of Equestria have, one-shotting basically any threat in the franchise and ending conflicts instantly. Fortunately, Twilight and her friends now have this astonishing magic now indwelling them and have been able to trigger it without the Elements of Harmony or without the full groupon a remarkablenumber of occasions, so it’s fair game to assume that Pinkie can utilize these abilities if she truly needs to. Harmony Magic can be used in a variety of ways, usually taking the form of the Rainbow of Light, but one thing is for sure, whatever it does, it’ll be certain doom for whoever the target is.
The Magic of Harmony is armed with a wide array of unique and devastating effects that one can use for a variety of scenarios. It can seal victims away in the realm of Limbo beyond the dimensions where time has no meaning, banish them away magically for a thousand years at least, totally undo and block threats like mind attacks or possession, restore and enhance one’s magic and stamina even after it has been entirely drained or shut down, remove the life from objects or targets, turn victims into stone and terminate their abilities, etc. It can negate the breaking apart of multiple realities, act on a range spanning entire countries and arguably universes in seconds, and maybe most devastating of all, can entirely obliterate not just one’s body, but also their soul. There’s really no force in the series that the Magic of Friendship cannot overcome in the end, and once the Rainbow of Light has been fired, there is no way around a single, immutable fact. Evil is about to DIE.
Forms
Pinkie Pie
Lord of Chaos
Throughout Equestria, there are very, very few individuals that are even remotely close to being able to match the power of Discord, the Lord of Chaos. Fewer still are those that would actually be able to wield his absurd abilities if they actually got the chance. Discord’s magic is unhinged, bizarre, and fully disobedient to the laws of logic and rationality, to the point that the majority of Equestria’s friends and enemies alike, no matter how strong, are incapable of grasping the chaos and using it rather than having it blow up in their faces. Only the craziest and silliest of them all can truly master the magic of chaos, so it’s quite fortunate for us that those sorts of things are exactly what Pinkie Pie is. Harnessing the magic of chaos from the Bewitching Bell or by bonding with the Chaos Realm, Pinkie unlocks the full extent of Discord’s abilities, becoming the one, the only, the undisputed Lord of Chaos.
While tapping into the magic makes Pinkie go even crazier than usual, she has displayed complete mastery over Discord’s abilities, outright matching him nearly blow for blow in a duel of chaos and being able to do everything he can do. Her cling on sanity is also a bit better using the Bell, being able to distinguish friend from foe and correctly target Tirek, Chrysalis, and Cozy, while leaving her friends unharmed amidst transforming the skies above. Naturally, this form causes Pinkie’s abilities to absolutely skyrocket. She can do basically anything, with little to no drawbacks. She can turn items two dimensional, fight as a spirit, rewrite reality basically any way she sees fit, manipulate and travel through time, generate basically as many clones of herself as she desires, and a whole lot more.
Discord is a multidimensional being that can live in numerous dimensions at once and has access to all realities and non-realities, and Pinkie can even outright block dimension travelers from accessing dimensions of her choice by “changing the locks” on realities to shut them out regardless of their abilities. She can learn anything that has ever been said or heard thanks to the ability Eyes and Ears Everywhere to learn anything about anyone she wants at will, can steal or summon any items she wants across the multiverse, and like Discord, she knows every spell. Not just Chaos Magic, not just random spells here and there. Any spell, any ability in Equestria barring that of Harmony Magic, is all at Discord’s fingertips, and by extension, Pinkie’s hooves. It doesn’t matter the reality, there’s nothing she can’t do.
Rainbow Power
After defeat at the hands of Lord Tirek, the Mane 6 were left with essentially no remaining options, until Twilight Sparkle received Scorpan’s Medallion from Discord as a token of friendship. This final gift enabled the Mane 6 to open up a mysterious locked box at the Tree of Harmony, where the tree gifted them immense and entirely unmatched power that no force in Equestria can even come close to matching. This is the Rainbow Power form, the single mightiest force in the entire universe by far.
The Rainbow Power forms are essentially an upgraded version of the Elements of Harmony and the Magic of Friendship, and should be capable of doing anything that they do but better. Shutting down reality warping, petrification, obliterating body and soul, so on and so forth. The forms also come with some other nifty perks, like automatically generating shields that cover all directions to block out enemy attacks, shattering seals used to trap others and lock them away indefinitely, restore one’s magic and abilities even after they have been completely drained, or in turn entirely drain the power and magic from a helpless victim. These forms were able to one shot Lord Tirek even after he had the magic of Discord, every Alicorn in Equestria, and the entire population in the land, no-selling his attacks despite all his strength and taking his magic away despite the ludicrous amounts he had by that point. This form has been utilized on other occasions as well, and of course, given the Magic of Friendship and the Tree of Harmony now indwells Pinkie, she should reasonably be able to tap into it in a pinch.

The show is called Friendship is Magic, after all! Pinkie has a lot of friends, and we mean a lot. Pinkie is friends with seemingly just about everypony she meets in Equestria, and that’s not too surprising given her festive personality. But even the most simplistic ponies in the land are surprisingly capable, and you’d be surprised how basically everyone has had a hoof in taking down at least one threat for the fate of Equestria. Of course, Pinkie should reasonably be comparable to all of her friends, most of which even just in her normal state. Obviously stronger ones like Discord, Twilight Sparkle, or Luna are a different story, but Pinkie’s higher forms should upscale off of them, as Pinkie has defeated or been directly comparable to them on several occasions in those forms.
- Twilight Sparkle launches her tree library high into the air
- Twilight Sparkle rapidly moves around the sun and moon
- Twilight Sparkle creates nuclear-esque magical explosions
- Twilight Sparkle reacts to and blocks Flurry Heart’s lasers with her own
- Rarity, Shining Armor, Starlight Glimmer, and Twilight Sparkle all react to and reflect or dodge a laser in a row as it bounces about
- Rarity is able to control all of the clouds over Ponyville
- Rainbow Dash survives being in the epicenter of a giant winter cloud mushroom blast
- Rainbow Dash did a Sonic Rainboom as a filly that cleared the skies around a sizable amount of Equestria (5 teratons)
- Rainbow is able to fly at Warp 8 (512 - 1,024c)
- Celestia, Luna, and several of the Mane 6 pulled the moon to Equestria (48 to 64 yottatons)
- Princess Celestia raises the moon very easily
- Princess Celestia is able to control the sun (1.45 to 4.08 KiloFOE)
- Princess Celestia can also move the 4 stars that had sealed Nightmare Moon away
- Princess Luna’s power is stated to be able to destroy a whole world
- Princess Luna is able to create a large shared dream for the entirety of Ponyville’s population
- Helios and Phaethon (Celestia and Luna) can physically pull the sun and moon across the sky daily, without magic
- Discord creates a pocket dimension that contains numerous planets
- Discord flies fast enough to travel into the past
- Maud Pie throws a rock far over the horizon so hard it forms a massive mushroom cloud
- Zecora survives a massive explosion
- A group of relatively unimportant unicorns blast the moon in seconds with fireworks magic (3.5c)
Enemies of Equestria
For such a lovely little world of fantasy, Equestria gets attacked by horrible monsters and villains on a disturbingly frequent basis. The townsponies of Ponyville have started just shrugging off monster attacks as a weekly incident and go on with their day to day routines while horrible beasts ravage their streets now, but no matter what horrors set foot in the area, Pinkie and her friends are always able to beat them down. Scaling is pretty obvious here. Pinkie Pie is one of the most important factors in bringing down just about every villain in Generation 4, with very few exceptions. The Elements of Harmony are generally able to one-shot pretty much any villain in the series, and even the more powerful embodiment of malice, Cosmo, was still defeated by their blast combined with Discord’s magic. Given Pinkie is wielding both here, she should at worst be able to downscale, and in turn be much more dangerous than basically everyone else listed here as well.
- Lord Tirek is able to ram Twilight Sparkle through a large mountain (her best feat fr)
- Lord Tirek is able to lift and throw a large land mass
- Queen Chrysalis survives a massive blast that engulfs the entire Changeling hive
- Cozy, Chrysalis, and Tirek annihilate a huge portion of Canterlot
- The Pony of Shadows is able to corrupt entire dimensions and would have been able to corrupt the entire multiverse if given enough time (infinite speed)
- Cosmo is able to tear apart the fabric of reality while searching for Discord
- Cosmo is able to fly fast enough to break into the Chaos Realm
- The Infinity Drive is able to blast ponies into Limbo, a realm beyond space and time
Other Generations
Of course, Friendship is Magic and Generation 4 aren’t the only stories that bear the name of My Little Pony. To date, 5 generations currently exist (plus My Little Pony Tales of course), and of those generations, 1, Tales, 3, and 5 are all confirmed to exist in the same canon multiverse as G4. Pinkie has interacted with and even befriended many of these ponies, from the bane of Grogar that is the explorer North Star, to the clumsy but lovable Christmas specialist Minty. She’s shown to be directly comparable to these ponies in general as well, and should scale to their feats, while more powerful ones like Star Catcher can likely still be upscaled off of in Pinkie’s greater forms. Of course, exceptions exist, and there is no solid chain for Pinkie to scale to the absolute top dogs of Generation 1, but these absurdly powerful exceptions like Queen Majesty are few and far between, with most characters in other generations being fair game here.
- Rarity and Cheerilee moved some constellations
- Whimsy Weatherbe created a storm over Ponyville
- Niblik the troll shoots the sun (166 - 249c)
- Star Catcher flies to the stars in a few seconds (45 million c)
- The denizens of Unicornia are able to amplify the Crystal Chariot to fly fast enough through space and seemingly time (FTL, debatably immeasurable)
- Moonstone is able to fly across the galaxy and back in the course of a night (12 billion c)
Weaknesses
Pinkie Pie
Pinkie’s not flawless, she’s a work in progress. She’s got dents, and she’s got quirks, and while some might argue that it’s her flaws that make her work, we still need to discuss them in order to fully understand her capabilities and shortcomings. For starters, Pinkie Pie can be a bit distractable, usually being easier to draw away from a situation compared to her friends and then needing some time to regain her focus. Additionally, her emotional state and confidence is generally directly tied to if she feels she’s doing a good job caring for her friends and if they in turn care about her. Situations where she’s led to believe that they’ve stopped being close to her or that she’s failed them in some way can massively rock her confidence and cheer, terminating the majority of her abilities and bizarre nature to create a being of absolute sadness and misery. She can easily bounce back from this upon getting things set straight or learning the truth, but it still makes things immensely difficult for her until that point is reached.
Of course, beyond that, there are other things to consider. Pinkie Pie is an Earth Pony first and foremost. This does give her enhanced physical strength and connection to the land, but she can’t traditionally cast spells like a unicorn can, and she can’t traditionally fly like the pegasi without tapping into her sillier abilities for a bit or using an aircraft. This is mitigated by her stronger forms, but Pinkie’s base simply has a lot fewer abilities and resistances to tap into, and she needs to be careful not to get herself into a pickle before she can start harnessing her stronger magics with her friends.
And don’t let her play the yovidaphone. For the love of all that’s good and pure, just don’t.
Background
Gold Ship
The year is 2009. In the chilly northern countryside of Japan, a foal is born from the prestigious Mejiro lineage, generational horse-racing legends. Named after his sire, Stay Gold, Gold Ship quickly proved every bit as capable as those who came before him. At just three years of age, Gold Ship claimed several prestigious first place victories at the Satsuki Sho, Kikuka Sho, and Arima Kinen. He became known for his late-burst racing style, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats until the very last moment before surging to the front.
However, as time went on, it became apparent that this horse was… not quite like those who came before him. Seeking a triple crown victory at the Takarazuka Kinen, spectators believed Gold Ship would be more than capable of performing up to standards. Instead, Gold Ship… refused to exit the stalls on call, immediately demolishing his chances of winning the race from the very beginning. This would become known as the infamous “12 billion yen incident”, a testament to the incredible high standards Gold Ship COULD meet, if only he wanted to.
Despite his eccentricities, Gold Ship was inarguably a generational talent. Even if he had to retire on a loss, Gold Ship’s legacy wouldn’t end so soon, for he would be reborn as - of all things - an anime girl.
In the world of Umamusume, legendary racehorses throughout history are reborn as horse girls, or, well, Umamusume. Direct translation, there. Imagine our world, but there exists a separate species of anthropomorphic horse-women so dense in population, society itself bends over to accommodate their needs. There’s unique running lanes on roads, chairs with tail-holes, elongated phones, carrot-based delicacies of every kind, even social media made specifically for horse girls! And indeed, Gold Ship’s story graces this world as well, amplifying the real horse’s unpredictable antics to 11… actually, maybe a few notches past that.
Gold Ship (or Golshi, as she likes to call herself) is a member of Team Spica, alongside anime protagonists Special Week, Silence Suzuka, Tokai Teio, eternal ‘rivals’ Vodka and Daiwa Scarlet, and even Gold Ship’s real-world grandfather, Mejiro McQueen. Together, they trained at Tracen Academy, a school for aspiring horse girls to compete and grow in their race careers.
Well, training is the idea, but you’ll probably be more likely to find Gold Ship… scooting around, playing with a rubix cube, hosting a Youtube channel, enduring cartoonish levels of physical abuse, or straight up ballin’. Still, past the silly gags and shenanigans, Gold Ship does genuinely love her teammates, perhaps more than anyone else in the group. That inhuman, 4th-wall breaking energy is Gold Ship's way of maintaining a particular image around herself. Unpredictable, maybe a little unhinged, utterly random. All conducive toward putting a smile on her friends' facing, without them every really thinking too hard about her underlying motivations.
In truth, those motives are to project a character that can randomly say the right things to the people that matter most to her without the baggage of being considered reliable. She's observant of her friends and trainer enough to know what effect her insane pranks will have on them without being a genuine burden, all for the sole purpose of brightening their day. That gremlin energy is certainly not untrue to her character deep down, but it's also far from the only thing she has going on.
That being said, while she does have a tendency to get into catastrophic, world-ending random bullshit, she’s at the Academy for a reason. You see, Umamusume are born to run. The thrill of a race, the bitter sting of a rivalry, the support of friends, the catharsis of victory; that’s what Gold Ship still desired at her core. She may have even fooled herself for years, but eventually, Gold Ship realized she wanted to win. Definitively, inarguably, in one final blaze of glory.
Alas, it wasn’t meant to be. But even though she was unable to secure a victory in her final race, Gold Ship’s efforts wouldn’t be for naught. Even in retirement, she would inspire the next generation of Umamusume, passing the torch to Kitasan Black. Just like Gold Ship, Kitasan Black often found herself torn between her innate desire to win, and her lifelong friendship with others. And just like Gold Ship, Kitasan would go on to be a generation-defining beast on the field, sacrificing none of the boundless joy and kindness in her heart for others.
Regardless of the medium, Golshi remains one of Japan’s most beloved racehorses to ever grace the field, with unbelievable skill and an explosive and unforgettable personality to boot. She also may or may not be god of the known universe, but that’s neither here nor there.
Experience & Skill
Gold Ship
Despite her antics and general silliness, at the end of the day, Gold Ship is still an extremely competent racer, and a dominant one at that. Both her and her real life counterpart boast six G1 race wins, the highest level of races. These include the Satsuki Sho, the Kikuka Sho, the Arima Kinen, the Takarazuka Kinen, and the Tenno Sho. Putting aside her race accomplishments, she’s also a skilled entertainer and performer (as pretty much all Umas are), and like her fellow Tracen Academy students, her training gives her expertise in things like sumo, boxing, fencing, and archery. Tracen Academy’s Umas have also shown proficiency in sports outside of racing like basketball and dodgeball.
Golshi herself has also shown a variety of other weird and miscellaneous skills, such as being a surprisingly decent cook, being able to weld, knowing how to fish, knowing basic survival tactics, and being good at pottery. She’s also shown the ability to be able to use and pilot a multitude of different vehicles, everything from cars, to planes, to…whatever this thing is.
Also, she’s scarily good at trivia.
Equipment
Gold Ship
Golden Anchor
Gold Ship’s signature and most iconic weapon is none other than her golden anchor. Tied to a golden chain, she can use this both in long range and close range, either tossing the giant anchor at her opponents or swinging both her and her anchor around wildly. The power behind the anchor itself is also no joke, as it can casually destroy trees with minimal effort.
Training Equipment
With Tracen Academy’s vast amount of resources, Gold Ship and the rest of its students are granted various pieces of equipment that they utilize in their day to day trainings. Some of these include boxing gloves (as seen above), fencing swords, and bow and arrows.
Lightsaber
Gold Ship pulled out a lightsaber in one of her PakaTube episodes, complete with the sound effects and all. Vrrrrr…..vrrrrrr.
G-Zone Energy Drink
Gold Ship seems to take her sponsors very seriously, as seen when she was promoting Umamusume’s collaboration with the G-Zone Energy Drink. Consumption of the drink seems to revitalize Gold Ship, giving her energy (who would’ve guessed) and also apparently lighting her up when she’s pitch dark?
Carrot Button
Burlap Sack
Nothing like a good old fashioned burlap sack to abduct help round up Umas uncompliant or unwilling to race. While she has pulled off successful abductions persuasions with Special Week, Rice Shower, Mejiro McQueen, and even Spica’s Trainer, Narita Taishin has shown that not only is the bag dodgable, but also prone to being ripped to pieces.
Alarm Clock
Alarm Clocks are items typically used in-game to rewind time after a failed career goal. These will reset the player back to before the race began in order to give the race another go, also increasing the mood of an Umamusume to help increase her odds of victory. And this isn’t just a game-based mechanic; Gold Ship’s own spinoff manga blatantly spells out that these clocks literally rewind time, something she is acutely aware of and relies on in-context.
Hat
The very hat on Gold Ship’s head serves almost like a mini storage of sorts, constantly transforming and keeping items for Gold Ship’s use. It’s been shown as a bento box (see above), a bug bomb, and an IC Card. It also apparently has a sign inside of it, and it can also grow and stretch. It also has a lot of weirder abilities, but we’ll get more into that later.
Fountain Fireworks
A set of fireworks that Gold Ship randomly pulls out after an outing with McQueen. They apparently have “five times the average” amount of gunpowder, and as such, they cause a pretty large explosion when they go off.
P-Points
She’s goddamn Gold Ship. Used to tutor McQueen while she was over at her estate, these aptly named “P-Points” seem to have a mind of their own, as they suddenly all floated out of Gold Ship’s bag without any command. They also seem to be quite strong, being capable of pinning both Golshi and McQueen against a wall.
Golshi-Chan Watch
Gold Ship apparently has a watch that can instantly morph her clothing, turning her into totally not the Great Saiyaman.
Cinderella Gray Poster
A poster promoting the Cinderella Gray anime. With a single glance towards it, it turned Gold Ship, Oguri Cap, Minami, and Tamamo Cross all into…weird, muscular characters. The effect seems to wear off after a while, but a single glance at the poster is all it takes to transform anyone.
Growth Potion
During the events of the Umamusume fantasy event, finding herself backed into a corner at the hands of a giant Grass Wonder, Golshi ends up stealing a growth potion from a mercenary, consuming it as she turns herself giant. The growth in size is pretty notable, as upon turning giant herself, Grass Wonder completely dwarfed over even Golshi’s castle, with Gold Ship growing similarly in size to her.
Golshi Castle
Speaking of Golshi’s Castle, outside of serving as her main base of operations during the events of the fantasy quest, also appears to be a living, sentient being. Fueled by “extra-rich carrot extract,” despite its goofy appearance, this thing is no joke. Not only do both El Condor Pasa and Grass Wonder claim to be unable to do anything against it, Golshi herself even claims the boosted castle to be stronger than her. We don’t actually really get to see it do much though before Grass Wonder simply squishes it after turning giant.
Vehicles
Despite what you might expect, given the whole nature of Umamusume being about running, Gold Ship actually has a varied assortment of vehicles at her disposal, all of which she’s shown expertise in driving and piloting. Notable ones include…
- The S.S. Golshi : One of Golshi’s more iconic items, her trusty segway, aptly named the S.S. Golshi. It doesn’t really have any notable features outside of being a pretty standard segway, but it’s surprisingly fast, capable of keeping pace with fleeing Umamusume. It does run on a limited battery charge (though Mihono Bourbon managed to use it to drive the length of the Arima Kinen even after Teio had used it prior), however, and it also has a tendency to get stuck. Especially against stairs.
- Crab Sleigh : Briefly taking over Santa’s role as gift-giver during the holiday season, Golshi has her own sleigh, driven by…giant crabs. Judging by their general appearance, these appear to be snow crabs. Considering they can fly and have giant pincers, it’s safe to say getting pinched by one of these wouldn’t exactly feel great.
- Squidward Killing Machine? : What even is this man.
Miscellaneous Equipment
With her various appearances throughout Umamusume’s games, anime, and manga, Golshi has accumulated a boat load of random items and gadgets that she’s used in a variety of different scenarios. There’s a lot, but going over some of the more notable ones…
- Paintball Gun : A blaster used by her RUN! Ran! Launcher!! outfit. It can shoot paint balloons, but she also swings it at the trainer (you) as a melee weapon in one of her win screens.
- Bokken : A wooden sword, also known as a Bokken, complete with a blindfold. Perfect for playing Suikawari and smashing some watermelons on a nice summer’s day.
Race Shoes/Cleats : No Uma would be complete without designated race shoes and cleats. The shoes really do make a difference, as Oguri Cap went from barely losing a race because of her worn down shoes to outright dominating her next one.
- Disguises : Great for concealing her identity and stealthing around, Golshi has various different kinds of disguises at her disposal, from a simple pair of sunglasses and face mask to a cloth that blends into a shipping container.
- Motorcycle Helmet : As seen above, it’s a standard motorcycle helmet that protects her from comical eye-related injuries, though it presumably also helps keep the rest of her head safe. There are also holes on top for her ears to fit through. How accessible!
- Shinai : A bamboo sword, also known as a Shinai, perfect for training and whipping other Umas into shape.
- Mallet : A big mallet that Golshi uses to hammer tree stumps into hills. This probably counts as Strength Training?
- Knives : A pair of knives Gold Ship has that she uses to chase McQueen around, complete with a scary looking costume and all.
- Swords : Gold Ship pulls out what appears to be a katana during a brief bit with Oguri Cap. In an episode of PakaTube, she also pulls out what appears to be a more European style broadsword.
- Dodgeball : A pretty standard dodgeball used during a sports day competition. Despite their rather mundane appearance, in the hands of an Umamusume, they can actually prove to be quite dangerous projectiles.
- Rope : Some standard rope that’s useful for restraining, holding things down, the usual. Gold Ship apparently uses it to catch a UFO out of the sky (don’t ask.)
- Animal Suits : In her free time, Gold Ship likes to cosplay as other members of the animal kingdom! She has an octopus suit, which is apparently capable of shooting out actual ink, as well as a hyperrealistic gorilla suit, which, funnily enough, also happens to be donned in Tracen Academy’s swimsuit.
- Spear : A spear that Gold Ship was briefly seen with while her and Nakayama Festa were attempting to build a secret base together. Perfect for jabbing and stabbing.
- Wire : One of Gold Ship’s various tools that she utilizes during a spy-esque mission to save McQueen. She pulls out some string from her wrist in order to attempt a takedown, but fails. It was a good effort, though.
- Explosives : Golshi has a variety of different kinds of explosives that she keeps on her person, ranging from a simple stick of dynamite, to explosive barrels, to a time bomb apparently capable of destroying the entirety of Tracen Academy.
- Magnets : A pair of two powerful neodymium magnets, one north-facing and one south-facing, capable of attracting and repelling, as magnets do.
- Fire Batons : A pair of fire batons that Gold Ship was briefly seen with. Nothing too special about these.
- Three-Section Chain Weapon : A three-section chain weapon of sorts that Gold Ship was briefly seen utilizing after some time spent grinding and increasing her level alongside the rest of the Gold family in the Demon Realm.
- Arm Strength Enhancement Tool : This is what appears to be some kind of arm strength enhancement tool, utilized by Gold Ship in an attempt to beat Gentildonna in an arm wrestling contest.
Party Dash Items
Umamusume : Pretty Derby - Party Dash is a spin-off party game based on the mobile game, in which Tracen Academy’s various Umamusume compete in a variety of sports based events for the academy’s Spring Fan Fest. These include Hurdles, Basketball, Dodgeball, and an eating contest, each of which come with their own set of useful items that Gold Ship can utilize.

Golshi’s Grand Adventure 2 Items
Golshi’s Grand Adventure 2 is a sub-game within Party Dash. The story of the game revolves around Tracen Academy being attacked by Professor Kale’s robo army, with Gold Ship setting out to take the professor down herself following the kidnapping of Mejiro McQueen. Throughout her journey, Golshi has a variety of different items and weapons that she picks up, helping her along the way.
- Water Gun : Gold Ship’s main mode of attack in this gamemode, it’s a fairly standard water gun that’s capable of destroying obstacles as well as robots. She can also upgrade this to a tri-shot, allowing her gun to fire in a three-way spreadshot.
- Blade : A melee-based item. As it sounds, it allows Gold Ship to do sweeping melee attacks.
- Thick Laser : A giant laser-based attack that shoots directly in front of her periodically.">
- Lightning Generator : Sudden bursts of lightning will suddenly rain down from the sky when Gold Ship has this item equipped, doing large amounts of damage and targeting any enemies or obstacles on screen.
- Barrier : A defensive barrier that surrounds Gold Ship. It lowers the amount of damage she takes, while also damaging enemies she makes contact with.
- Firecracker : A ranged explosive weapon that essentially functions like a grenade, getting tossed in front of her and creating small explosions that damage nearby enemies.
- Creeping Rocket : A high speed rocket that shoots directly in front of Gold Ship, effective against smaller enemies and destroying obstacles.
- Golshi Drone MK. 1 : A small drone that hovers beside Gold Ship, it automatically attacks in the neighboring lane, allowing for more coverage across a wider area.
- Golshi Drone MK. 2 : Functions similarly to MK 1, but this drone is blue instead of red. It also appears to be particularly effective against obstacles in Gold Ship’s path.
- Satellite : Small satellites that orbit around Gold Ship. They function similarly to her barrier, protecting her from damage while also damaging opponents that make contact with her.
- Dodgeball : A throwable dodgeball that bounces around the screen, damaging any enemies it makes contact with.
- Carrots : These are items that Gold Ship can find during stages and pick up. When consumed, they restore her health.
World Flipper Armaments
World Flipper was a pixel-art mobile gacha game, with combat heavily revolving around pinball-esque mechanics. As a featured character during Umamusume’s collaboration with the game, Gold Ship should reasonably get access to the items her World Flipper self was/is able to equip.

Edem
A mysterious and powerful lance, this weapon is one Gold Ship herself got acquainted with and utilized during her and the rest of Team Spica's adventures in the world of Granblue Fantasy. Don’t let its rustic design fool you, Edem is an immensely powerful artifact. The weapon itself was able to transcend entire universes, communicating directly to Golshi in her mind and encouraging her to take on it’s sky training. Gold Ship was able to utilize it to transport her, Special Week, Tokai Teio, Mejiro McQueen and SIlence Suzuka all to the sky realm.
Edem is a weapon with its own sentience, being able to act independently of Golshi and communicate with her through telepathy. It can float and fly, boost Golshi’s own stats, sense the presence of hidden scrolls, morph Team Spica’s clothing into swimsuits, change its structure for whatever suits the current moment, and it can even grant Gold Ship herself the ability to utilize magic. And this isn’t even the full extent of its power (more on that later.)Abilities
Gold Ship
Umamusume Physiology
They were born to run, and nobody knows where fate will lead them. Umamusume are the notable species of their respective world, with the name quite literally translating to “horse girl.” As you’d expect, all Umamusume are human females with horse-like qualities, most notably the horse ears and tail. All Umamusume are mystical reincarnations of real life horses, inheriting both the names and souls of horses from our world.
Umamusume are most notably characterized for their superhuman physicality, being far stronger and faster than an average person. Umas can run at an estimated top speed of 70 km/h, and they’ve been shown to effortlessly haul trucks, lift up giant wooden boards, and most notably, tow giant tires. They’re also known for being far more resilient and durable than an ordinary person, as Umas on numerous occasions have been shown taking loads of punishment. They’re also naturally resilient to debuffs such as poison and paralysis. Additionally, their horse-like qualities also naturally grant them enhanced senses, with many Umas being able to see, hear, and smell far better than an ordinary person.
Umamusume have been described as “aging like elves.” They appear to age normally up until a certain point, and their aging seems to halt dramatically. Umas are also all known for their innate ability to train and grow at rates far exceeding an ordinary person, thanks in large part to their superior physicality, which especially holds true when they’re pushed to grow with rivals. It’s worth noting, however, that despite their superior physicality, Umamusume also have notable weaknesses. Much like their real life counterparts, the legs of an Umamusume are extremely vital to their very being, and heavy enough damage to them can result in an Umamusume no longer being able to run entirely. Additionally, unlike humans, Umamusume also reach their physical peaks far sooner, often only after a few years of racing, and this can often result in either a sudden or gradual decline in their physicality. This loss of physical peak actually happened to Gold Ship herself in Umamusume’s anime, resulting in her retirement after racing in the Arima Kinen alongside Kitasan Black.
Game Skills
Standard Skills
These skills affect movement speed and stamina recovery, and activate when certain conditions are met during a race.
- Adventure of 564: Her Unique Skill from her Summer form. At one random point in the second half of the race, her skill will increase and she can activate two gold skills at random, regardless of the conditions required.

Party Dash Skills
- Get a Taste of this Golshi-Stamped Pie! : Gold Ship’s skill for the Hurtling Hurdles minigames, she throws pies forward, which are so irresistible that they cause opponents to momentarily stop to eat them, temporarily stunning them.
- Time to Start a Legend : Gold Ship’s skill for the Blazing Baskets minigame. As shown above, she lobs a cupcake forward, which creates a large explosion when it lands and also knocks opponents back.
- Warp Shot II : Gold Ship’s first Dodgeball Demolition skill, it instantaneously warps a dodgeball straight to her target.
- Fork Shot I : Gold Ship’s second Dodgeball Demolition skill, it creates a fork shot that targets an opponent at an angle.
- Life’s Got Its Ups and Downs : Gold Ship’s third and ultimate shot for Dodgeball Demolition, she throws a ball that bounces off nearby walls in a zig-zag pattern, damaging any opponents it makes contact with.
- Slippery When Ripe : Gold Ship’s server skill for the Gourmet Gauntlet minigame, she lobs a banana peel forward, which causes opponents who make contact with it to slip and temporarily become stunned.
- Bowling Ball Attack : Gold Ship’s eater skill for the Gourmet Gauntlet minigame, she summons a washbowl to drop on opponents, stunning all opposing servers and making them drop dishes.
Yep, that’s right. Gold Ship can transcend the very medium she’s in to speak directly to YOU, and she’s done so on multiple occasions. This is most prominently shown off in her very own spinoff manga, where she can do things like jump straight through the pages of her own series and peel away pages herself. She’s been shown promoting other Umamusume media in her own spinoff series, and she’s also aware of the fact that she’s in a manga, even directly speaking to her author at one point. She’s also directly referred to the audience before, and she’s taken over Umamusume’s official Twitter account for Golden Week, hijacking it and using it to speak directly to players.
Portal Creation
While trapped in a confined room with no exits, Gold Ship pulls off her best Super Buu impression and literally screams a portal open to escape. Granted, the portal shrunk on her before she managed to leave, but the fact that she can even do this in itself is insanely impressive.
Mind Manipulation
In an episode of PakaTube, Gold Ship pulls out a pendulum, as well as employing various other tactics to brainwash and hypnotize her audience.
Water Manipulation
Gold Ship seems to have the ability to make water sprout out of the ground simply by waving her hands, and she was also shown capable of parting an entire sea.
Transformation
While Gold Ship has the ability to turn herself tan and gold, more fascinating is the time (pictured above) when she literally became an alternate version of herself. That is to say, Pakatube!Gold Ship just… became World Flipper!Gold Ship. Remember, Umamusume doesn’t have a single canon timeline, and Gold Ship’s own manga confirms variants of the same people exist throughout the Uma-verse. So… Gold Ship could reasonably just become any version of herself she wants on a whim. That makes compositing a lot easier, huh?
Text Manipulation
During a PakaTube Q&A session, Gold Ship briefly displayed the ability to materialize text in front of her.
Dimensional Travel
Embracing her competitive spirit, Gold Ship straight up transcends dimensions, jumping into the world of Shadowverse to directly meet with the game’s real life producer, Yuito Kimura. Fun fact, she also directly challenges him to a game and wins, making him promise to feature her in future CyGames IPs, a promise that has surprisingly been held up even to this day. Outside of this, she’s also been shown capable of transporting herself to our world, as shown when she spent a day in both France and real life Japan.
Teleportation
Gold Ship has demonstrated the ability to teleport on various occasions. Her methods of teleportation seem to vary, as they can range from a slower, more concentrated form of teleportation that transported her all the way to the moon, to more instantaneous forms of it akin to something like Instant Transmission.
Intangibility
Gold Ship has demonstrated the unique ability to be able to phase through solid walls. Why? Why not.
Telekinesis
With enough focus and concentration, Gold Ship was able to bend a metal spoon with her mind, an ability that seemed to even surprise her when it happened.
Acrobatics
Umamusume are inherently athletic thanks to their biology, but Gold Ship seems to be a step above that. Outside of the typical parkour skills demonstrated by her and other Umas in games like Party Dash, she’s also shown the ability to jump absurdly high, such as when she was able to leap into the sky with a single bound (see above), and when she was also able to jump from the moon all the way back to Earth.
Duplication
Gold Ship has shown the ability to duplicate and clone herself on various occasions. There doesn’t seem to be an upward limit as to how much she can clone herself, though she’s been shown having anywhere from two to five clones of herself on screen. These clones have their own conscience, being able to act independently and form their own thoughts, and they’re also physically on par with Gold Ship herself, as shown when she had an athletic competition with a clone of herself.
Light Manipulation
Gold Ship seems to have the unique ability to manipulate light, as shown when she was able to dim the lights of the room she was standing in, and when she was able to light her own head up despite the rest of her body remaining dark.
Subjective Reality
With enough thought, anything can become true. During a PakaTube episode where Golshi kept having thoughts about a weird drawing, those thoughts eventually manifested into reality, bringing the weird drawing to life.
Reality Warping
On several occasions, Gold Ship has demonstrated what can only be described as mild reality warping. She was able to warp the background behind her to show the vast reach of space (as seen above), and she's also been shown simply pasting herself into various places, such as the poster art for Pretty Derby, as well as replacing the characters on the game's CD album cover with herself. Additionally, during the UmaQuest fantasy event, she was able to just casually shift the ruined environment her, Grass Wonder, and El Condor Pasa were in into a proper race track.
Size Manipulation
Golshi has demonstrated the ability to both enlarge herself and shrink herself down. She can make herself grow to the point of towering over buildings, and she can also shrink herself down to the size of ramen, a slice of cake, and dolls.
Electricity Manipulation
During a PakaTube episode, Golshi seemed to have the ability of channeling electricity alongside Tanino Gimlet and Vodka. In her spinoff manga, she was also shown shuffling her feet fast enough to give herself a literal coat of static electricity.
Immersion
Gold Ship has shown the ability to quite literally pull herself out of promotional art, as seen above. Additionally, whilst talking about Party Dash for the game’s final trailer, she also just enters the game after getting fired up in order to participate in the hurdles minigame.
Fire Manipulation
Whilst on an angry rant, Golshi demonstrated the ability to summon fire behind her. Very scary. In a chapter of her spinoff manga, she was also able to light a campfire with a simple snap-snap, spark spark of her fingers.
Fusionism
Gold Ship has shown the unique ability of being able to fuse with other beings on multiple occasions. She was able to fuse with Special Week to form the being known as “Special Golshiweek,” and she’s also been shown to have the ability to fuse with the aforementioned clones of herself.
Regeneration
In classic Looney Tunes fashion, Gold Ship has shown the uncanny ability to be completely pulverized in one instance and simply pop out fine in the next. After taking a dip down into the core of the Earth, her entire body was completely incinerated, leaving just her hat as it popped out on the other side in… fucking BRAZIL?! Sure enough though, she was just fine in the following episode.
She’s also been completely flattened by a giant Special Week, and seemed just fine when the Earth completely blew up while she was standing on it.Non-Physical Interaction
Gold Ship has demonstrated the ability to interact with non-tangible objects, such as her own in-game skills, and she’s also shown the ability to both see and interact with spirits. (Just below!)
Summoning
Speaking of seeing and interacting with spirits, during a competition against Nakayama Festa, Gold Ship was briefly shown summoning the spirit of Sugita Genpaku with a set of field spell cards, Yu-Gi-Oh! style. This is who Sugita Genpaku is by the way, in case you’re curious.
More impressively, Gold Ship can summon other Uma entirely to help her out! In the midst of an eating competition against Oguri Cap, when all seemed lost, Cinderella Gray’s Oguri Cap suddenly burst out of Golshi’s hat, beating her PisuPisu counterpart before promptly returning into Golshi’s hat and presumably back to the CinGray universe. That’s why she’s the goat, everyone.
Outside of summoning fellow Umas from her hat, she’s also shown the ability to summon Carrot Man, dolphins, and minions to her aid on command, as shown during the UmaQuest fantasy event. These include minions with the ability to control the Earth as well as time itself. She’s also shown the ability to call her two generals to her command, Bloody Sky and Madam King, with the former showing the ability to manipulate the weather, and the latter showing the ability to create a ballroom out of thin air, forcing opponents into a dance competition.
Paper Manipulation
Gold Ship briefly demonstrated the ability to summon a massive amount of paper in her surrounding environment. Not sure what you’d really do with this in a combat scenario, but papercuts might hurt.
Dream Interaction
During a chapter of her spinoff manga, while Golshi was nodding off in an attempt to fall asleep, she suddenly began thinking about the sheep she was counting getting into a wrestling match. Seeming entertained, she decides to just…enter her own thought bubble, before promptly getting her ass kicked by said sheep and passing out.
Precognition
On several occasions, Gold Ship has shown what can only be described as a weird kind of precognition. She warned McQueen about something that was going to happen in a page before it actually happened, and she also seemed aware of the fact that the very chapter she was in was going to feature Jungle Pocket in it, despite never having actually met her.
Inhalation
Golshi has shown the ability to put on her best Kirby impression and inhale food into her mouth with immense amounts of force. I wonder what’d you get from a Gold Ship copy ability.
Plot Manipulation
During a chapter of her spinoff manga, Gold Ship has a direct phone call with the very author of her own series, unsatisfied at the slow pace in which chapters are being released. With her author not having any ideas for the chapter, Golshi decides to take matters into her own hands and pretty much hijacks the entire chapter. Not only can she direct her author to create and spawn things into the story, but she also altered the format of her own manga to be a 4koma style comic. She also rips two panels out of her own 4koma comic, utilizing them as stepping stools to reach a high up box.
Hammerspace
Like any good cartoon character, Gold Ship has demonstrated the ability to pull things completely out of nowhere on multiple occasions. Everything from TVs to bowling pins, swords, entire gameshow setups, pretty much anything Golshi has in her arsenal is fair game to being pulled out at a moment’s notice.
Explosion Manipulation
During her brief adventure in the Demon Realm with the rest of the Gold family, Golshi seemed to gain the ability to create explosions simply by waving her hand forward in front of her.
“The Zone”
Often also referred to as simply “the flow,” the zone is an immense state of hyperconcentration, in which the perfect balance of skill and challenge merge together to create a state of intense focus. It wouldn’t be a sports anime without some iteration of the flow, and Umamusume’s interpretation of it is no different from a majority of other sports series. As Musaka explains it, when an Umamusume enters the zone in the midst of a race, their senses are heightened, and an “overwhelming performance far exceeding normal limits” can be achieved. Although the zone is something that is tapped into subconsciously, experiencing the sensation at least once can result in a subconscious understanding of the state, allowing for conscious and deliberate usage of it. While Golshi herself hasn’t been shown entering the zone herself during any of her races, given it’s a psychological phenomenon all Umamusume are hypothetically capable of, there’s no real reason to assume she wouldn’t be able to utilize it. Additionally, while not inherently the same as the zones we see in Cinderella Gray, Golshi was able to tap into her own state of hyperconcentration while focused on making pottery in a chapter of her spinoff manga.
Meteor Summoning
During the UmaQuest Fantasy Event, Golshi seemed to have the ability to summon and rain down meteors from the sky. These meteors are no joke, as one of them straight up killed El Condor Pasa upon making contact with her.
Black Hole Creation
Another ability demonstrated by Golshi during the fantasy event, Golshi is capable of spawning and creating black holes at her own leisure, trapping Grass Wonder in one during her showdown against both her and El Condor Pasa. This was confirmed to be a black hole by Grass Wonder herself upon being freed from its confines.
Earth Manipulation
During her reign as the demon king, Golshi also briefly demonstrated minor Earth Manipulation, as she was able to create an earthquake that shook the track Grass Wonder and El Condor Pasa were standing on.
Aura Farming
Gold Finger
From a collaboration with Anime Tenchou, Gold Ship managed to learn a technique known as the “Gold Finger”, where she draws in energy into her right hand for an explosive burst, all while the animation changes into a very Super Robot Wars-esque style. When used in-tendem with the protagonist Meito Anizawa (who channels his inner Domon Kasshu), the two create the “Double Gold Finger” for an even more powerful attack.
Resistances
- Extreme Temperatures: Golshi has been shown surviving the vacuum of space, as well as being mostly unfazed going through the center of the Earth on multiple occasions. She’s also face-tanked explosions a lot.
- Paralysis, Poisons, and other Status Ailments: According to Grass Wonder, Umamusume are naturally resilient to paralysis, poisons, and other kinds of status ailments.
- Sleep Manipulation: Golshi seems capable of being hyperaware of the fact that she’s sleeping, and can forcibly wake herself up simply by jolting herself in her own dream.
- Electricity: Gold Ship was completely unfazed after being struck by lightning. She also completely no-sold Grass Wonder’s lightning spell during the Umamusume fantasy event.
- Oxygen Deprivation: Gold Ship has found herself stranded on the moon on several occasions, and she’s just…fine. No space suit necessary, and she can talk, move, and breathe without a care in the world.
Forms
Gold Ship
Party Dash Gold Ship
Gold Ship’s pixelated appearance in the Umamusume spinoff game, Umamusume : Pretty Derby - Party Dash. This is where her aforementioned Party Dash skills and items come from.
World Flipper Gold Ship
Gold Ship’s appearance as seen in her collab with the pinball-focused mobile game, World Flipper. In game, she serves as a fire element attacker who primarily attacks using her giant golden anchor. Of course, she also has access to World Flipper’s various items, which we already went over in her items section.
Summer Gold Ship
One of Gold Ship’s in-game alternate outfits in the mobile game, this version of Gold Ship dons a swimsuit as well as a paintball cannon. While not giving her much outside of being a simple costume change, it does give her a few new skills she can utilize, so that’s neat.
Project L'Arc Gold Ship
Another one of Gold Ship’s alternate outfits, this is a more formal looking dress seemingly tied to the Project L’Arc scenario, a career scenario in the mobile game where the Umas of Tracen Academy take on the prestigious Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe held in France. Once again, while this doesn’t give her much outside of donning her in some fancier attire, it does give her a few extra skills she can utilize within races.
The Avatar of Appetite
It doesn’t really work out for her in the end, though.
Uma Lord Golshi
During the UmaQuest fantasy scenario, Gold Ship took on the mantle of the self-proclaimed “Uma Lord,” essentially acting as the big bad of the event after she found herself using one of Tracen Academy’s VR machines. Donning a snazzy purple crown and cloak, don’t be fooled, her outfit and title aren’t just for show. As previously mentioned, this form grants her a multitude of different abilities, including things such as being able to create black holes, summon meteors, create earthquakes and even warp reality itself. She’s also got powerful minions at her beck and call, like the aforementioned Madam King and Bloody Sky, as well as her hulking Golshi Castle.
Colonel Golshi
Golsilius, the Umonarch
Despite what outward appearances might tell you, this isn’t a form for Gold Ship herself, but rather, her previously mentioned magical lance, Edem. After solving the scrolls Team Spica had found and gathered together, Edem transformed, taking on Gold Ship’s appearance as she became Golsilius, the Umonarch. She claims to be the strongest Umamusume, and she more than has the abilities to back that claim up. Just her presence alone was compared to that of a Primal Beast, which, in Granblue Fantasy terms, is absolutely no joke. Just to list off the various things Golsilus is capable of :
- Reality Warping : Created an entire island and castle out of nothing, establishing herself as the ruler of her own empire. Altered a hall within her castle in order to make it more hospitable
- Mind Manipulation : Brainwashed the inhabitants of said island to do her bidding and serve directly under her. She can also control the minds of people in the nearby vicinity, giving people the urge to race and compete. This brainwashing was able to affect Walder, someone who possesses Over Mastery, a skill meant to help resist against similar mind manipulating debuffs such as Charm and Allure
- Biological Manipulation : Forcibly gave the inhabitants of her island tails and ears, essentially turning them into Umamusume
- Broadway Force : Can create spontaneous idol concerts, giving people nearby the sudden urge to sing and dance, while somehow knowing the lyrics and choreography to songs they’d otherwise know nothing about
- Law Manipulation : Makes it so that any attempt to battle her becomes a race instead. Lyria compares her essence to that of a Primal Beast, being capable of twisting the very laws of nature itself to her will
- Summoning : Capable of summoning food, and was also shown capable of summoning monsters to fight on her behalf, with one example of this being a giant, sentient takoyaki
- Dimensional Travel : Was able to send all of Team Spica back from the Granblue Fantasy universe to their home universe
- Elemental Manipulation : Her attacks always deal elemental damage superior to her enemies’ target elements (Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Light, and Dark)
- Power Nullification : Her attacks are always guaranteed to hit, bypassing accuracy reducing effects like Blind, Hit to Accuracy, Mirror Image, Debuff Resistance, and Debuff Immunity. Additionally, her Dropkick attack allows her to remove all buff effects from targeted enemies. Golsilus’ Meteor Storm attack can also inflict the ‘Summonless’ debuff, preventing targeted enemies from using summons in combat
- Healing : Recovers HP with each passing turn, as well as removing two debuffs from herself each turn.
- Various Status Ailments : Her attacks will consistently leave random debuffs whenever they land, which include
- General Stat Debuffs :
- ATK Down - Self-explanatory
- DEF Down - Self-explanatory
- Debuff Res. Down - Debuff resistance is lowered
- DMG Taken Amplified - Self-explanatory. The effect can’t be removed
- Special Attack DMG Lowered - Self-explanatory
- Max HP Lowered - Self-explanatory, this effect is stackable. At 100%, it leaves the inflicted enemy with 1 HP
- Accuracy Reductions :
- Blinded - Attacks have a slight chance to miss
- Accuracy Lowered - Attacks and Special Attacks have a chance to miss
- Attack Negation :
- Cold Stare - Elemental DMG dealt by foes is reduced to 0
- Damage Over Time :
- Zombified - Receives damage if healed
- Singed/Toxicosis/Tune - HP is lowered on every turn based on the level of the respective effects. The higher an enemy’s effect level, the more HP is lost. These effects stack up to 10 times and cannot be removed
- Stuns/Action Negation :
- Can’t Act - Unable to attack. This effect can’t be removed
- Stared Stiff - Unable to use special attacks and takes 10% more damage
- Comatose - Unable to attack and takes 50% more damage
- Death Manipulation :
- Lethal Hit - Results in instant death for the victim
While Golsilius reverted back to its standard lance form of Edem at the end of the Granblue Fantasy event, with a simple firm smack by Golshi, it can instantly transform back into Golsilus if needed. And considering the two are not only on good terms, but with Edem herself also considering Golshi to be her owner, a simple smack is all Golshi needs to summon this absolute behemoth of a being to aid her in her fight.
Feats
Gold Ship
Overall
“Did you know that in Umamusume…?”
- Both the Uma and the real life horse won six G1 races throughout their careers, including the Satsuki Sho, the Kikuka Sho, the Arima Kinen, The Takarazuka Kinen (twice), and the spring Tenno Sho.
- Her real life counterpart’s victories included the real life counterpart of his half-brother Fenomeno, Eishin Flash, Tosen Jordan, Sounds of Earth, Verxina, Rose Kingdom and Rulership. Though he never beat his half-brother Orfevre, he was able to take victory against his rivals Gentildonna and Win Variation, who have each placed higher than Orfevre before
- In spite of her goofy nature, the Uma counterparts of Orfevre (Triple Crown Winner) and Gentildonna (Triple Tiara Winner) consider her a strong rival
- Alongside her fellow Team Spica members, successfully bested and defeated Golsilius
- Beat Cygames’ director in a game of Shadowverse and made him promise to feature her in future Cygames’ projects as part of collaborations, which has surprisingly been held up
- Is essentially the face of the entire Umamusume franchise, and a good portion of Umamusume’s global release success can be attributed to her captivating nature and silly shenanigans. She took over the game during Golden Week (Golshi Week)
- Is one of the first V-Tubers ever and officially performed alongside Hololive members
- The global release for Umamusume: Pretty Derby completely overshadowed the simultaneous global release of Persona 5: The Phantom X. It beat it again (alongside Destiny Rising, Sonic Rumble and Wuthering Waves) for Best Mobile Game of 2025.

Scaling
Gold Ship
Team Spica
Gold Ship’s designated team in the anime, as well as her companions in other media such as crossover events, Team Spica is a team comprised of Lil’ Spica Special Week, Mejiro McQueen, Tokai Teio, Silence Suzuka, “rivals” Vodka and Daiwa Scarlet, and everyone's favorite support card, Kitasan Black. As her fellow teammates who she’s consistently shown capable of competing against, it’s pretty evident that Golshi should scale to her fellow teammates.
Other Umamusume
(Gold Ship scaling image created by EpicLinkSam.)
Tracen Academy is home to a plentiful number of Umas, each with their own distinct personalities and personal goals. From ravenous, gluttonous beasts, to aliens aware of the cosmos and the multiverse itself, to whatever the hell Marvelous Sunday is, Japan’s top school holds pretty much everyone few and far between. Being fellow competitors all racing to achieve glory, Gold Ship should reasonably scale to pretty much anything most other Umas can do, even showing herself capable of contending physically with physical powerhouses such as Gentildonna.
- Umas like Gold Ship can effortlessly break wooden tiles, push around large boulders, tow giant tires behind them, carve stone with their bare hands, lift up giant wooden boards, smash giant boulders in half, and chuck giant squids into the sky
- Tanino Gimlet breaks apart a metal fence
- Symboli Kris S sends a kunai flying into the distance

Weaknesses
Gold Ship
As absurd as Gold Ship is, she of course has her own fair share of weaknesses. As previously mentioned, she naturally has the weaknesses of all Umamusume, being one herself. Most notably, the legs of an Umamusume are extremely vital to them, and damage dealt to them can hinder or even completely cut off their ability to properly run. Additionally, as a silly chaotic goofball, Golshi has a tendency to not take things seriously, even in the face of presumably imminent danger. She seems to have a pretty recurring habit of being fairly unlucky, as things often times don't seem to go her way, and she also seems to have a recurring vulnerability to mind-based attacks, such as when she was brainwashed by an alien, only being broken out thanks to McQueen's interference, and when a pot falling on her head caused her to lose all her memories.

Verdict
Tertiary Factors
In a battle as certain to transform into absolute madness as this one, perhaps the wisest course of action is to begin at the simplest, least absurd section and work our way into the mayhem. Both Gold Ship and Pinkie Pie have done… a lot, frankly. Basically any bizarre shenanigans or random nonsense you can imagine, at least one of the two has likely gotten into, so at first glance it would likely seem really difficult to imagine how either of the two could come out ahead in matters like skill, intelligence, or other such factors. But once you look a bit closer and sift away the insanity, the picture becomes clearer.
Starting with stamina, this is an extremely clear cut advantage for Gold Ship. Pinkie Pie is able to last for hours, unleashing all the antics her heart can muster all over the place and skipping merrily about for extensive amounts of time. But she has shown limits, and there is a cap that she can reach and tire out. She isn’t able to go on indefinitely, and waiting her out and letting her tire out is something that can and has happened a few times throughout the franchise. In contrast, Gold Ship really isn’t held down by any meaningful stamina limits. She can keep going as long as she pleases, so long as she doesn’t get bored anyway. Being able to continuously keep a badminton match going for at least a year with no stop in sight is absolutely stupid, but that’s just par for the course with Gold Ship and her Uma friends. And if she ever somehow wound up fatigued, the Staminades can give her indefinite stamina, albeit for a limited time. Pinkie Pie has a massive supply of stamina, but she has a limit, and Golshi simply does not. Gold Ship easily takes the edge here.
…Over Pinkie’s base form. Pinkie’s no fool, and she’s going to realize she’s running dry if the fight really manages to last long enough to wear her down. Fortunately for her, she has solutions in her stronger forms and magic. Both Chaos and Harmony Magic are basically unlimited in supply, and we know that magic correlates quite closely to one’s stamina in Equestria. Discord himself notes that he’s never once needed to “top the tanks” in his time making chaos throughout the multiverse, and he’s certainly been running around far longer than Gold Ship has. The Rainbow Power form is also able to restore Pinkie from having no magic to speak of at all, so it could easily recharge her at any time if she somehow ran out of other options. At this point, both Golshi and Pinkie are basically playing on unlimited stamina, and neither side is going to ever realistically wear the other out through this method of victory. Gold Ship takes the point over Pinkie as she usually is, but once the champion of laughter starts bringing out her trump cards, this category cancels out.
Well, what about skill and experience? Both sides have been in a lot of bizarre exploits, is there a way to get a winner here? And while it might seem tough at first, once one really compares the two, it’s generally rather clear that Gold Ship is outmatched here. She’s done a lot, but Pinkie has simply done more. Gold Ship's fought a reality warper or two in her time, but Pinkie is battling in shattering reality or for the fate of Equestria on a semi-frequent basis. Pinkie’s journeys through time are far more vast and encompass more realities. Gold Ship gets up to a lot of silly stuff with her random abilities and shenanigans, but Pinkie has gone toe to toe with Discord himself and forced him down to his final trump card with how absurd and skilled she was. Pinkie has simply fought more, done more, and won more. And as good as Tracen Academy’s training is, Pinkie is closely comparable to the likes of Rainbow Dash and Cheerilee, a black belt and the national wrestling champion of all Equestria respectively. Pinkie is just the better fighter and has generally showcased superior mastery of all her madness in both experience and skill.
Intelligence largely goes the same way. Don’t get the wrong idea, Gold Ship is extremely smart. She has a very strange collection of random bits of knowledge that she can pull out of nowhere for an advantage, and has amassed understanding of a wide array of subjects, usually being able to take her fellow Umas off guard in such matters. The fact of the matter is just that Pinkie, for lack of a better word, is just more or less a genius. She’s the one member of the Mane 6 able to occasionally display superior intellect to Twilight Sparkle herself, the one that is able to solve spells even the greatest magic users in history could not and just casually charts out new astronomical patterns for a basic display presentation. Pinkie has outright managed to memorize all of the names, birthdates, specific interests, distastes, and general traits of her entire hometown, and that of numerous friends in other regions of Equestria as well, and categorically has laid detailed plans out decades in advance for many of them. That is just a showing of organization, planning, and learning that is far too crazy for anything the Umas have shown. It helps that Pinkie is an extremely quick learner, being able to swiftly master pretty much anything after she briefly takes interest in it, and remembering or detecting little details that others miss. Anything Gold Ship might pull on her, Pinkie’s going to remember it, and file it away in her mind for later so she doesn’t fall for it again. Golshi is going to be absurdly hard to outsmart and is far craftier than one would think, but Pinkie is just faster to adapt and is able to match even the brightest minds in her land. Pinkie ultimately has the edge here.
Of course, it’s also worth questioning how quickly both would be to take things seriously. Golshi and Pinkie are both known for being a bit on the crazy side, and while Gold Ship is more down to earth than Pinkie’s cotton candy fantasy brain, she’s also a bit less serious and more confident in herself than Pinkie’s more cautious and humble outlook. Ultimately though, both are likely going to roughly cancel out and start being serious at the same time. Gold Ship might have more confidence, but she’s not vain to the point she can’t register threats, and she’s going to quickly acknowledge that Pinkie could be a problem and start being more serious. Pinkie is extremely humble and has no issues acknowledging Gold Ship is a worthy adversary, so the question would just be if her mind would click to reality fast enough to register it. Fortunately, she has consistently showcased that she can swiftly put the pieces together fast enough to make her move, as shown in many battles against the likes of Tirek or Chrysalis, and her journeys through time against Professor What. Both have their quirks, but they’re not dumb, and their respective differences aren’t extreme enough to prevent them from realizing they need to not hold back before they get obliterated. This matter as such cancels out, as both Golshi and Pinkie are going to catch on before it’s too late.
Ultimately, there are a handful of things to consider here. Their strongest stuff enables them to both have basically unlimited stamina, and this match is going to be over long before a year has passed anyway. Both of them are smart enough to realize they can’t just mess around, so neither can win off of the other doing something dumb early on. But from there, the remaining factors lean slightly in favor of Pinkie Pie. Her rapid learning skills and the ability to memorize and catalogue basically anything she wants enables her to match the most intelligent minds in the land, and she has just been in a much greater number of reality breaking battles. Gold Ship has only fought foes like Pinkie on rare occasions, while Pinkie has seen her fair share of battles go off the wall and come out on top anyway. As such, the tertiary factors close in favor of Pinkie Pie.
Stats
Pinkie Pie
Stats for Pinkie Pie, or any My Little Pony character really, can easily be seen as a bit contentious. Fortunately for us, determining how high in the series Pinkie scales really is not a challenge. Thanks to both Chaos and Harmony Magic, Pinkie is amidst the top dogs of her verse, being one of the strongest forces in the G4 and G5 universe and being easily comparable to the vast majority of characters from prior generations as well, barring a few outstanding exceptions we won’t cover here. Even your traditional, classic ponies have plenty of impressive feats, such as Rarity controlling the weather over Ponyville, a performance netting a solid (get calc), or Rainbow Dash performing a Sonic Rainboom as a filly. Pinkie is obviously much stronger than Dash was as a child, and this feat clocks in at 5 teratons of TNT! Speed’s no joke either, with completely incidental background characters being able to use magic on the moon at 3.5 times the speed of light, or Rainbow Dash being able to fly at least 500 times light speed when she’s serious.
Of course, there’s more where that came from, and there are performances that can top these feats. Most of the Mane 6 and the Royal Sisters are able to lasso the moon down to Equestria, a feat clocking in at a bare minimum of 48 yottatons of TNT. And then going beyond Equestria and into the stars above or generations past, there’s even more to cover. Princess Celestia was able to command the 4 stars sealing Nightmare Moon away, and ponies have been able to move the sun and moon with their magic for years upon years, even if it does strain them heavily. Moonstone the unicorn from the first generation is able to traverse galaxies at 12 billion times the speed of light, and Baby Moondancer even somehow managed to glue all the stars in the sky together, a feat so bizarre that getting a proper figure on it would be absurdly difficult, though unquestionably cosmic. Star Catcher the magical pegasus from the third generation once created an entire constellation at a value over 1.5 FOE, while Celestia’s moving of the sun can hit values up to the KiloFOE. And that’s all without mentioning Luna, who commands not just the sun or moon, but all the stars in Equestria, far beyond anything else covered here thus far.
But getting into the universal territories, this is where things go all in. Plenty of universal arguments exist, from the Pony of Shadows overrunning one with his darkness, or Luna’s magic being stated to be capable of destroying an entire world. Slightly debatable in both cases, but consistent with cases like Celestia controlling her own realm or Discord’s magic having “power over all reality.” And that claim is backed up by a direct feat from Pinkie herself, when she rewrote the entire Chaos Realm as she saw fit after taking control of Chaos Magic. This is a whole universe confirmed to be infinitely sized, and Pinkie’s magic surged through the entirety of the dimension and rewrote all of it. That’s a solid infinite universal feat right there, and her magic spreading across the dimension would have to be infinite speed as well.
Additionally, we have the feats that go beyond even that, into the highest ends. Discord flying through time is a pretty solid immeasurable feat, and that’s consistent with Cosmo being fast enough to fly straight into the Chaos Realm through sheer speed, something Discord himself reacts to. While heavily debated, Luna’s creation of a shared dream is also a decent argument for Multi+ characters. We know that Luna is physically present in the Dream Realm when she performs her duties there, further backed by her being able to drag nightmares into the normal world at any time casually. And given Discord’s mind is able to create his own dreams without the influence of the Nyx but still has the Infinite Hallway, we can safely discount the Nyx as being an issue with the argument, and the hallway is entirely unrelated to their abilities. As such, Luna being able to create entirely new dreams from scratch and control them would include the hallway, containing all the worlds inside. Obviously there are going to be arguments against such a feat, but it’s a pretty good higher end.
But past even that is the Infinity Drive, a device that can toss around timelines, subjugate the multiverse, and even cast ponies through and manipulate Limbo itself. This is the realm beyond and outside all conventional space and time, where dimensions and universes flow throughout like corks down a stream. It’s a pretty clear cut bulkspace and 5D area, and the Infinity Drive overloading launches Pinkie Pie and her fellow Time Ponies right into it. We know that there was a blast Pinkie had to take here given the smoke and scorch marks afterwards, and it wasn’t just a simple quantum displacement alone. There was a blast that shot Pinkie right into and affected that 5D plane, and Pinkie took it to the face.
Obviously, given this was in her base form, one could and likely immediately cry outlier, and this is of course fair. But given the Infinity Drive overloaded even before it had attained enough positive emotions from a time loop the day before a basic festival in Ponyville, it stands to reason that the Elements of Harmony, items that are fueled by and embody much stronger positive emotions, would obviously scale, and would be consistent with their constant showings as the strongest force in the verse. This is a direct feat for Pinkie, and while it might be an outlier for her base form, it very much is not for her higher ones, and clocks her higher ends right into the 5D, low complex multiversal terrain with immeasurable speeds.
Gold Ship
Starting off with Golshi's stats, it's no stranger to most that Umamusume are pretty blatantly Superhuman. Being able to run at speeds comparable to cars, being tough enough to carve solid boulders and chuck giant squids into the horizon, things like that. Golshi's no different, and at her low-end, many of her own feats match and even eclipse this range of power. Throwing a ball with enough force for it to circle the entire globe required a force of 27 Tons of TNT, as well as the ball itself needing to travel at over Mach 2,600, comfortably into the Massively Hypersonic+ ranges.
Gold Ship and her fellow Umas have, surprisingly enough, displayed feats eclipsing these on countless occasions. Striking the ground hard enough to create a geyser visible from space and leaving a crater of herself on the moon pretty comfortably gets within the Teraton to Petaton ranges of power, and similarly, other Umas like Durandal and Copano Rickey are able to clear away entire storms. Speed wise, Golshi running from Japan to Easter Island, and then from Easter Island to Ireland in a brief timeframe puts her right at Sub-Relativistic, and being able to run so fast she can "leave color behind" is more than likely faster than light.
Getting into cosmic territory, there's of course Golshi's own earth-splitting feat, backed by a similar feat performed by Gentildonna in her spinoff manga. Given Golshi's own feat, coupled with her being able to fight on par with Gentildonna in their brief scuffle, it makes her Planetary scaling pretty blatant. A step above that, Winning Ticket creates an entire BNW constellation in the sky, and Seeking the Pearl creates an entire galaxy. For speed, Neo Universe's cosmic travelling gets...really, really fast. Anywhere from 1 trillion C to 8 trillion C.
Last but certainly not least, we have the big boy feats. Golshi casually destroying and recreating the entire Umaverse is a pretty blatant Universal feat if we've ever seen one, and you can certainly argue the feat itself getting even higher. Thanks to Neo Universe's ramblings across various events and within her own career story, we know a single Umaverse is “infinitely connected” to other parallel worlds. And those worlds each contain several layered dimensions; Agnes Tachyon, a mad genius and Tiktok favorite, implies that there are beings that exist “beyond the third dimension".
A single Umaverse would therefore have at least 4-dimensional spaces, and with characters like Marvelous Sunday being able to create entire extra dimensions, there are almost certainly more than 4 dimensions holistically, bringing the quantifiable total to at least 5D. There's also, of course, Golsilius, who, being the self-proclaimed strongest Umamusume (and having the strength to back that claim up), would undoubtedly upscale any of Golshi's own shenanigans, as well as shenanigans from the rest of her fellow Tracen Academy peers. As far as speed goes, Gold Ship's Universe destruction and recreation spanning across an infinitely-sized Universe is pretty blatantly Infinite speed. Not to mention, in Party Dash, Gold Ship can *theoretically* run the entire span of that infinite universe. The only reason she functionally can’t is because the game becomes impossible to clear with human reaction time, but that’s a mechanical, real world limitation, not really one of Gold Ship as a character.
In short, Gold Ship effortlessly resetting the Umaverse has far greater implications than even a feat that blatant would suggest at first shake. Since a single Uma-verse is intrinsically connected to an infinite number of parallel ones - every single career playthrough in the game, for instance, will never be identical to the previous one - that universe isn’t just a single universe. And that single universe isn’t merely bound by 2 or 3 dimensions, but rather, upwards of 4-5. Essentially, Gold Ship’s power breaches the low complex multiversal range of destruction.
Comparison
You might be a bit overwhelmed by all of that, and a bit curious how everything compares overall. There’s definitely a ton to keep track of, but the long and short of it is that they’re generally rather even. Both have feats that can hit teratons, planetary feats generally in the yottatons range, etc. Basically anything one side has, the other has, so there’s no real need to go too in-depth here.
Getting more into the cosmic ranges, that’s basically the only part here where either has advantages. Pinkie’s speed feats are generally a lot more consistent and much faster than the vast majority of Gold Ship's. Running fast enough to nullify color is a nice FTL feat, but even basic unicorns can go over 3 times faster than that, let alone feats like what Rainbow Dash or Moonstone can do. But Neo Universe is able to move at a few trillion times the speed of light, exceeding even Moonstone’s flight by many times over! On their quantifiable ends, Gold Ship is generally faster, setting aside how casual Moonstone’s flight was and other miscellaneous arguments one might make such as more dubious higher ends with the Pony of Shadows.
On the flip side, power on this end is in Pinkie’s court. Winning Ticket’s constellation is no joke, but the constellation that Star Catcher made simply gets a higher value by a noteworthy margin, giving Pinkie the edge in constellations. And if you argue galaxy feats for Gold Ship, Princess Luna controls all the stars in Equestria, getting a superior figure for the local bearer of laughter again. In general, on these more middling ends, Gold Ship is a decent bit faster, but Pinkie is stronger, though both of these have various odds and ends you can argue for both sides.
But none of that is the real meat of the debate, their highest ends. And believe it or not, they cancel out completely across the board. Golshi destroyed an infinitely sized universe, but Pinkie took over the infinitely sized Chaos Realm. And Pinkie’s magic spreading across that plane would reach similarly infinite speeds as Gold Ship running across her universe, let alone various other feats like Umas running through time rewinding spells, or Discord flying through time. Even their multiversal and low complex feats cancel out, surprisingly enough. Characters like Marvelous Sunday and Princess Luna both present various odds and ends for multiversal levels of power, and at the highest ends, the higher dimensional arguments that crop up thanks to Neo Universe are matched in full by Professor What’s Infinity Drive and the realm of Limbo. And arguments for Golsilius upscaling off of the Umas are similarly matched by the Magic of Friendship and Harmony similarly upscaling off of the various feats listed for Pinkie, again putting them on equal footing. Blow for blow, end for end, highball for highball, they cancel out across it all.
Of course, these are high ends, after all. You might disagree with applying Golshi’s destruction to the cosmology suggested by Neo Universe, or maybe you dislike the dream arguments in MLP. There are various ends presented for a reason, after all. The main point is that, for any level of leeway and leniency you give to one, the other side always has a perfect, exact counter. There’s not really a layer where one side gets higher than the other here without us turning a blind eye to the other’s arguments and feats. Stats, as such, cancel out. Pinkie and Golshi are both equally fast, and equally strong, and neither side can rely on these things to ultimately claim victory in this battle. Overall, stats are a tie.
Arsenal & Abilities
As you have seen, this battle is absurdly close up to this point. Pinkie manages to claim the win as far as tertiaries are concerned, but not by a huge margin, and stats, generally the most significant factor of a debate, are dead even. In order to truly understand who claims the crown, it all comes down to the single greatest factor of this battle, the clash between their many, many abilities. And figuring out who rises above the fray in this subject is no small task. These two can do just about anything, boasting so many absurd powers and random capabilities at a moment’s notice that it’s hard to keep track of them all. Gold Ship’s wide array of bizarre moves is nothing short of absurd, and Pinkie’s no slouch either, especially given the magic she wields at her best. But it all comes down to this, so we’re going to have to go through them all to see who comes out ahead. The Magic of Harmony and Chaos now rise up to combat the strongest Uma’s mightiest moves, so get comfortable, because there’s a lot to go through, and these two have a lot of similar hax. Things like teleportation, hammerspace, phasing, immersion, and more obviously all cancel out, and aren’t abilities that are going to make or break this battle, so let’s just focus on the much bigger factors that are going to actually have a hand in determining the winner. But we’ve got to start somewhere, so let’s begin with what these two entertainers are known best for. Their mastery of the 4th wall, and the plot itself.
4th Wall and Plot Manipulation
Both Gold Ship and Pinkie Pie are rightfully notorious for their abilities against the very media they exist in. The 4th Wall is a suggestion at best to them, and they are able to break the rules of their mediums like glass and rearrange the pieces in whatever fashion they desire. But there are differences between the two, so let’s analyze how a clash of the meta manipulators would go.
Gold Ship is unquestionably more used to using her abilities here in a more offensive capacity. While Pinkie is more than willing to mess with things and have some fun, she never really tries to rip full control of her story under her grasp, and mainly seeks to just amuse herself. Golshi on the other hand frequently does basically anything that occurs to her, such as outright manipulating her story, exiting her videos or manga, or altering the very format of the manga to be something else entirely. She can even directly contact the author of her manga to make changes or seize control of the manga entirely, doing with her narrative as she sees fit.
Conversely, Pinkie stands as one of the top dogs in a world full of characters that are always tearing the 4th wall a new one. Characters like Twilight Sparkle and Pinkie are able to exit their episodes outright, and multiple ponies and characters have managed to turn or fiddle about with the pages of the comic books to call out the readers. Discord is able to entirely recreate the manga and world’s narrative from the ground up into something new, and Princess Celestia was able to outright no-sell his alterations to the manga entirely. And of course, Pinkie happens to be very good friends with the narrator, giving her access to him for changes in the narrative as she may see fit. Other characters like Rarity and the Storm King have outright ripped away control of the comics from the narrator and taken over the entire comic, and given Pinkie has access to the narrator at any time and also has Discord’s magic, she should be far above these showings.
Ultimately, it’s worth noting that Pinkie is unlikely to try to change the narrative in her favor or to kill Gold. She only really uses her abilities for gags and to have a little fun, and is shown to actively try and keep the story on its correct course, cheerfully encouraging the narrator to do his best and keep the ship straight rather than entirely stealing control. But if and when Gold Ship starts messing about with the medium they’re in, Pinkie has the tools to successfully defend against her offense across the board. Both can exit their media. Both have the tools to completely reset their manga’s formats or genres from the ground up, and characters Pinkie at her strongest is superior to have completely blocked such an attack. Both can interact with panels and pages. Both can contact their author or narrator to influence the story, or outright take control of it entirely if they see fit. Gold Ship is obviously a lot more willing to use her abilities and has far more displays as such, but Pinkie has the tools to block anything she tries and keep the narrative going the natural course, undoing anything Golshi might try. It might seem shocking, but this category is a complete draw. Anything one side can do, the other can do, and neither side is going to gain a real edge in the fight by doing these things.
Dimensional Travel
Another major ability that both Golshi and Pinkie have is the ability to access basically any dimension that they desire. Both can create portals to other worlds, or basically just materialize themselves wherever they want just because. They can be anywhere, for any reason, which naturally could create a lot of advantages. It is worth noting that Golshi can only create portals by screaming and has never been able to travel through them directly, so her portals are generally a lot less reliable than Pinkie’s, but her other option is a lot better, and both have no real limits on where they can go, being able to go even beyond their own direct multiverse.
However, that’s about where this ability’s deadlock swings in Pinkie’s favor. Remember, Chaos Magic enables Discord to be a multidimensional being, existing in numerous realities simultaneously. Pinkie doesn’t need to jump from dimension to dimension to cover ground, and is free to multitask across multiple dimensions at a time, or even start camping in them as she spreads further across existence, something Gold Ship has never been shown to do. Chaos Magic also gives access to all non-realities as well, a unique territory that only Pinkie can access. Golshi can go anywhere in reality, but she’s not able to access non-realities, giving laughter’s champion access to a safety net she can hunker down in if things get tricky that Gold Ship just cannot follow her into.
But perhaps most threatening of all is the ability to “change the locks” on dimensions. This enables Pinkie to lock down dimensions entirely, blocking out dimension travelers to their current location and meaning Golshi can be sealed out of any dimension Pinkie doesn’t want her in. Remember, Pinkie was able to successfully lock Twilight, Starlight, and Discord all out of the Chaos Realm by changing its locks, and they possess dimension hopping abilities identical to Gold Ship's, only being able to break in through different means Gold Ship cannot replicate. Golshi would similarly be locked out if the locks got changed on her, or even stranded in a reality or non-reality of Pinkie’s choosing with no path out. While both can go basically anywhere they desire, Pinkie is armed with a few extra tricks that enable her to take a solid advantage in this category and claim control over the flow of what realities and non-realities get involved in the fight.
Duplication
Both Pinkie and Gold Ship have the ability to create copies of themselves at will. These extras seem to have the same general stats as the original, can use their abilities, and act independently of the original. While Pinkie has a slight edge in the amount of displayed clones shown to be made at once (6 against Gold Ship's 5), this is never suggested to be a hard limit for either party, and they can likely make more if the need arose. There’s no real “winner” here, as both cancel out across the board, though how these clones can be countered by other abilities or aid their respective side is something that will occasionally come into play.
Biological Manipulation
The Genome Piercer can be injected into Pinkie Pie to directly manipulate her genetic data, seemingly a form of biological manipulation, albeit one that has never been directly showcased. Fortunately, Pinkie has an answer for that. Thanks to their Love Magic, the Changeling Hive was able to reform and heal themselves from their long altered bodies from Princess Celestia’s victory over Queen Chrysalis hundreds of years ago that permanently altered their bodily structures until the healing. Pinkie’s magic should be far superior, especially with Harmony, meaning she could easily terminate and heal from anything Golshi tries with the Genome Piercer at any time, canceling this factor out.
Transmutation
Both Pinkie and Golshi have shown access to forms of transmutation, with Golshi being able to turn targets into carrots thanks to her carrot button, and Pinkie being able to petrify victims with the Magic of Friendship. Ultimately though, neither is likely to come out ahead through this tactic. Pinkie routinely uses things like joy buzzers and the like in her comedy sets and is going to know the carrot button is an obvious trap. Even if she did push it for some reason, both Chaos and Harmony magic are routinely able to undo transmutation, with Discord transforming into random objects or stone and returning just fine seconds after. He’s even directly turned into a carrot and back just for giggles. A rather strangely specific counter, but great for this! As for Gold Ship, she’s much the same. Petrification and turning into stone is something she’s dealt with before, and she came back just fine, so she’d likely do the same if Pinkie tried that tactic on her. In short, neither side is going to be winning off of transmutation, rendering these abilities and items generally null.
Sealing
When Gold Ship summoned Carrot Man, her babysitter suggested that her hat could potentially suck her up inside, as it did to Carrot Man; a very unorthodox but useful win-condition, in theory. However, Pinkie has tools to avoid the seal, such as teleporting away or maybe detecting an oncoming threat via the Pinkie Sense, making it where actually capturing her in the hat is much easier said than done. But even if Gold Ship got it done, Pinkie can escape rather easily. Potion Nova’s Antidotion is specifically able to negate and undo seals of this exact variety, and ponies like Twilight Sparkle and Applejack remain conscious and able to move about even when sealed in one of the bottles. As such, Pinkie can just immediately call upon the Antidotion and break out in an instant, more than fast enough to block this from qualifying as a win.
More importantly, however, there is no real evidence to suggest the babysitter’s fears were founded, with regards to Gold Ship’s hat sucking her in. It was able to do so to Carrot Man specifically because he was stored inside the hat, summoned from it, and willingly returned to it after his job was done. Against someone that doesn’t function as an extension of the hat, we have no concrete proof it could seal people away in a combat-applicable manner. Gold Ship was technically knocked out when this occurred as well, so she may not even specifically know of this theoretical strategy in the first place.
Timey-Wimey Shenanigans
Throughout this debate, it’s clear that both sides have a lot to toss around, but one prevalent question exists that needs to be addressed particularly. Thanks to Gold Ship’s Alarm Clocks, she can automatically rewind the battle back to the start if she is defeated, undoing any progress Pinkie made and giving her the knowledge she needs to claim victory. This is a devastating ability, and whether or not Pinkie can overcome it is one of the core factors that can make or break her odds at victory.
Fortunately for Pinkie, this is where perhaps one of her most unknown quirks takes full effect to challenge the clocks. Unlike the vast majority of characters in MLP, Pinkie doesn’t play by the normal rules of time. She’s a Time Pony, a literal living paradox that is unlinked from the natural flow of time and as such immune to the general rules of manipulating it. This isn’t reliant on Chaos Magic, nor is it tied to Harmony powers, it is just a law of who she is, so no matter how Golshi triggers the clocks at any stage in the battle, she’s battling a living paradox that is going to answer her manipulations in ways no other force before or after is going to. To be fair, Time Ponies are not immune to the rewind itself, so Gold Ship can generally still restart the battle from square one if she’s in a pickle. But unfortunately for her, that’s about it. Time Ponies are entirely immune to the memory loss that comes from retcons, so the advantage Gold Ship gets usually from remembering the fight is rendered null. Pinkie will remember everything too, and even worse, she’s going to know full well about the clocks and that Gold Ship is using them. Remember, even events that are literally retconned out of existence so that they never even happened still couldn’t stop Pinkie and her fellow Time Ponies, so even if one argued that Alarm Clocks can be more thorough than mere rewinding, it wouldn’t matter. The Time Pony defense is too thorough even against that, so no matter how one reads it, Pinkie’s going to remember everything, and she’s going to know about the clocks.
And that’s a big issue, because Time Ponies absolutely loathe getting shot back in time by rewinds or loops. Pinkie in particular shot down even the temptation of an eternal party like her universe had never seen before with her as the star in favor of setting her timeline right, so it’s needless to say that the second Gold Ship uses her first clock, her supply is getting an absolutely massive target on them. Pinkie is going to stop at nothing to annihilate Gold Ship's remaining arsenal as quickly and reliably as she can to ensure she doesn’t get launched through time again, and that’s a big issue, because Pinkie has the tools to take them out, and Golshi doesn’t have a way to keep her clocks safe. Remember, Chaos Magic is able to summon or steal items even as strong as the Elements of Harmony from Celestia’s vault, or even the Matrix of Leadership from an entirely different multiverse at will. Alarm Clocks may have some useful abilities, but they have absolutely no protection against stealing this potent, meaning the second Pinkie decides those clocks have got to go, they’re gone. And she’s going to do that immediately. In short, Gold Ship can maybe pull off one time rewind on Pinkie if it came down to it and Pinkie didn’t detect them fast enough, but after that, their use is over. Pinkie will remember what happened, target them viciously, and can swipe Gold Ship's entire supply at will the moment she wants to. From there, Pinkie is free to destroy the clocks and terminate their use, or if she’s feeling devious, just use them herself. As such, the clocks may initially benefit Golshi in the short term, but Pinkie’s physiology hard counters Gold Ship's usual advantages, and she has the means to either remove them from the fight or turn them into a massive detriment for Gold Ship outright.
Regeneration
With both fighters being at equal stats and being able to dish out so many different techniques and abilities, it’s extremely important to analyze not just how much they can give, but also what they can take. Thanks to regeneration, dealing lasting damage to either is made absurdly difficult, enabling them to immediately undo any traditional damage they might take and keep fighting no worse for wear. Both Pinkie and Golshi have rather impressive regenerative capabilities, and it’s important to determine who has the overall edge, because otherwise they could arguably both just get nowhere in this fight traditionally.
Both Pinkie and Golshi are capable of surviving pretty much anything. Gold Ship survived complete physical annihilation after being obliterated at Brazil of all things, but she later came back just fine. Pinkie on the other hand can notoriously reform her body pieces like a pile of LEGOs, or even just immediately come back from a pile of ashes. In fact, she should be comparable to characters like Twilight, who came back from complete physical annihilation as well. And with Discord’s magic, Pinkie could just forego her body altogether and maybe start fighting as a spirit.
At this point, both of them seem about dead even, and that would make determining an edge here dramatically harder. Fortunately, that’s about to change. Both can restore their bodies from nothing, but thanks to the spell Panacea, only Pinkie is able to heal damage to her spirit. (now where have I heard that before?) And with the Magic of Friendship, we know for a fact that she is capable of attacking and outright obliterating spirits entirely in a single shot. Golshi has a few miscellaneous tools that could maybe attack or deal a bit of damage to Pinkie’s soul, such as the Kadoma-II, but these are dramatically more speculative and much harder to clarify in their workings, and Pinkie has the tools to undo any damage they might do even if we gave them the benefit of the doubt.
Conversely, a solid shot from the Rainbow of Light is all it takes to destroy both Gold Ship's body and soul, something she has never been shown to be capable of surviving. And remember, Panacea is able to even undo one’s death, so even if Gold Ship somehow got absurdly lucky and obliterated Pinkie’s very soul, if one of Pinkie’s clones are still out, they can immediately undo that damage, resetting all of Gold Ship's progress back to zero, while the Rainbow of Light’s massive area of effect makes it possible to wipe all of Golshi’s doubles out all in one shot. As such, while Golshi and Pinkie are dead even in the realm of the physical, once the spiritual comes into play, Pinkie takes a dominant advantage. Golshi has no solid way to reliably kill Pinkie, while the latter has the tools to cut through her options and obliterate her in a single shot.
Miscellaneous Abilities
That was a lot to cover, wasn’t it? Well, there’s more. But we’re going to keep these relatively short and simple, so here’s a quick rundown on some extra things these two can do.
- Immersion : Both characters can enter and exit things at will. Everything from mirrors to promotional art and video games. Technically speaking, Golshi’s shown herself capable of hopping into more mediums, but given both of their other, more powerful traversal abilities, being able to travel across entire dimensions and the like, this should generally even out. Whatever one can do here, the other likely can, too.
- Dream Manipulation : Princess Luna’s dream magic grants Pinkie the ability to enter and manipulate the dreams of others. But, well…Golshi can do pretty much the same, being capable of entering her own dreams and manipulating them to her heart’s desire. It’s hard to imagine either one of these characters just falling asleep mid-fight, but even if the situation were to occur, Pinkie has ways to cure herself of such ailments, and Golshi can also just forcibly jolt herself awake if she realizes she’s dreaming. Edem would also likely be able to just wake Golshi up if she somehow gets put to sleep. Once again, moot point here. Neither can really take advantage of the other as far as dream abilities go.
- Stealth Options : As great as Golshi’s disguises are, it’s a bit hard to imagine Pinkie falling for any of them. She’s silly, but she’s certainly not stupid. And likewise, Golshi also isn’t a big enough goober to be easily tricked by any basic disguises Pinkie can don herself. Don’t-Notice-Me-Field certainly gives Pinkie a more reliable way of disappearing into the wind and getting the jump on Golshi, but given Edem’s ability to sense hidden objects, it’s hard to imagine she’d be able to do so without Edem immediately tipping her location off to Gold Ship. Either way, both aren’t exactly going to be relying much on trying to get a surprise attack off here.
- “Danger Senses” : It shouldn’t be much of a surprise here that Pinkie’s good ol’ Pinkie Sense pretty comfortably trumps Golshi’s own Precognition abilities. Both of them are inherently vague in nature, simply clueing both in on events that’ll happen in the future, but the Pinkie Sense is just a lot more consistent and reliable for the Element of Laughter, and she’s accustomed enough to it where she can use it to dodge incoming attacks and navigate sticky situations. When it comes to detecting danger, Pinkie’s tail will most certainly twitch before Gold Ship’s.
- Dolphins: Both of them can summon dolphins to help them in matters. We all love dolphins so this is cool. But they both can do that (weirdly enough) so it likely cancels out, though we’re sure the dolphins will enjoy the excitement.
- Age Manipulation: Pinkie can cause one to grow older or younger, to the point of infancy or being elderly. Golshi doesn’t have a solid answer to this, and the way Umas grow and develop is canonically what caused Gold Ship to retire. As such, if anything, there is canon evidence that she’d be vulnerable to this, making it much easier for Pinkie to take her down from there.
- Dimension Removing: Chaos Magic is able to turn 3D objects 2D, an ability Pinkie should obviously have access to here. This is likely a bit more thorough than standard transmutation or immersion, and in all likelihood, would work on Gold Ship, giving Pinkie a decent option to use here if it came to it.
That was a lot to go through, so it might help to have a quick summarization. In general, both parties have an absolute ton of options to throw at each other, shattering the realm of normalcy and unleashing everything and the kitchen sink. But because of that, the majority of items cancel out. In general, Gold Ship tends to have a much more immediately offensive playbook, and she usually uses her abilities in such a way more often than Pinkie does. But Pinkie has a wider array of defenses and resistances, while her hoofful of remaining and more bizarre abilities can slip through the gaps in Gold Ship's impressive but not quite as stalwart resistances and counters. Gold Ship's barrage is absolutely insane, but Pinkie can hold firm against the storm, and she has the tools to cut through the Red Strife’s defenses and take Golshi down. Overall, abilities, in a very close race, ultimately close in favor of Pinkie Pie.
But of course, that’s just one part of the battle, isn’t it? Pinkie’s able to bring down Gold Ship, but you may have noticed we’ve been tiptoeing around one elephant, or in this case, horse in the room. Taking down Gold Ship is a good start, but to truly determine the winner here, we must examine how Equestria’s Bearer of Laughter can perform against not just Gold Ship, but against the true power of the almighty lance that is Edem. Fillies and gentlecolts, put your hooves together, because it’s time for the final boss battle…
Pinkie Pie VS. Golsilius
Bringing down Gold Ship isn’t the end of this battle! Our final fighter now rises up to level the playing field, and believe us when we say that Golsilius the Umonarch takes an already complicated battle and makes it dramatically more difficult than it already was. Given all Gold Ship needs to do to activate her mightiest ally is to give a firm smack to Edem, there’s high likelihood that she can bring Golsilius out at any time, and given Edem’s powers, she can likely keep Gold Ship generally safe from Pinkie’s offense so long as she stays on the field. If Pinkie’s going to win, she’s got to get through Golsilius, and that’s dramatically easier said than done. The Primal Beast is able to pull every last stop against Harmony’s laughter, but now the final battle is drawn in the conclusion of this DEATH BATTLE!!!
On the Simpler Stuff
Yeah, we have a whole extra final phase for this battle. Fun, right? But before we get into the chaos, let’s just take stock of a few basics that are generally remaining in-tact here from the Gold Ship section.
Stats remain unchanged. Gold Ship can and has matched Golsilius in speed before, so naturally given Pinkie can match Golshi, we can easily just mark that up to a tie again with both hitting those infinite, unquantifiable ranges. Similarly for power, both also scale to those same exact higher ends discussed before. Golsilius obviously scales far beyond your typical Uma and would absolutely torch Pinkie in her base form, but as earlier mentioned, the Elements of Harmony, Rainbow Power, and general Harmony Magic also upscale off of MLP’s Generation 4 and 5 feats by a massive degree, cancelling them out. Everything remains the same.
Pinkie generally still has the edge in tertiaries. Golsilius only has one major campaign to her name, so the previous edges in things like skill and experience remain unchanged, and nothing really suggests that Golsilius is smarter than Pinkie either. As such, we’re not going to take a ton of time to go over those. These matters all remain largely unchanged from before, so you don’t need to worry about those things really getting shaken up here. Abilities, on the other hand, is a very different story. Settle in, because we’ve got a long list of stuff to go over again, so let’s just get started.
Pinkie Pie vs. Mind Manipulation
The first hurdle out of many for Pinkie to overcome when it comes to Golsilius is her rather powerful Mind Manipulation. To give a brief recap, Golsilius was able to brainwash the inhabitants of an entire island to essentially become her servants, doing her bidding and working for her. She can also give people what essentially are the instincts of an Umamusume, giving them the urge to race and compete. So how does Pinkie fare against becoming an obedient servant? Quite well, actually.
To start with, although it wasn’t touched upon in the initial abilities section, Gold Ship even without the aid of Golsilius can hypnotize people by pulling out a pendulum and swinging it in a hypnotic motion. We don’t really think we need to explain the fact that Pinkie obviously wouldn’t just stand there and let herself get hypnotized by something as simple as a pendulum, but even if the idea is humored, even as early on as Season 2 of Friendship is Magic, Twilight was able to undo the effects of Discord’s own mind manipulation, and that was long before her and the rest of her fellow pony friends even mastered Harmony Magic in its entirety. Unless you want to argue that Gold Ship swinging a pendulum around is more potent than Discord’s mind-based abilities, it’s pretty clear to say that Golshi’s own hypnotic tricks aren’t getting the best of Pinkie.
Golsilius’ own mind manipulation, however, is undoubtedly a step up from Gold Ship’s basic hypnotism, being able to affect an entire island’s worth of people, but Pinkie still has cases for being able to resist and deal with similarly potent mind-based abilities. The Elements of Harmony were able to undo Sombra’s mind hax on Pinkie and her friends even after they had been affected by it, which indicates that nothing is stopping them from doing something similar in the event that Pinkie gets put under mind control.
Now, of course, this is ignoring the fact that Golsilus’ mind manipulation was even able to affect people like Walder, who possess skills that explicitly help them resist similar mind-based debuffs such as Charm and Allure. But even if you want to go down the route of Golsilius’ mind manipulation being layered, you can make similar arguments with Pinkie. Discord’s abilities are far superior to Sombra, and Harmony Magic is, in turn, superior to Discord. A case can also be made of one’s power being directly tied to their ability to counter and deal with spells, such as Twilight being able to counter Sombra’s magic once she got strong enough to do so. And given the pre-established notion of Pinkie and Golshi matching each other in stats, you can argue that she’d likely be able to counter Golsilius’ mind tricks in a similar way.
Ultimately, ponies were resisting and dealing with mind hax as early on as Season 2 of Friendship is Magic, so Pinkie at her best should have no trouble resisting Golshi and Golsilius’ mind-based tricks. If you want to argue Golsilius’ mind manipulation being layered, you can argue Pinkie’s resistance being layered as well. And as the cherry on top, you can either argue Pinkie’s relative strength simply being able to counter the effects of Golsilius’ mind hax, or, even if she does somehow get put under mind control, Harmony Magic should more than likely just be able to simply break her out of it. No matter how you slice it, mind manipulation is something that just simply won’t work on Pinkie, and she has multiple ways to work around it. Pinkie survives this threat.
Oh, and Golsilius can also make people spontaneously burst into song and dance with her Broadway Force, but…well, come on, it’s Pinkie Pie we’re talking about. She was gonna be doing that anyway.Pinkie Pie vs. Power Nullification
Another one of the trump cards Golsilius has in her deck is that of power nullification and being able to shut down gimmicks enemies might throw at her. More specifically, Golsilius can completely ignore accuracy debuffs she might take so that her moves are always guaranteed to hit regardless of things like blindness, and she can also terminate the buffs one might apply onto themselves thanks to the move Dropkick. This removes all buffs the user might have on themselves, and could be deeply problematic if Pinkie’s various amps got removed. Meteor Storm also shuts down summons, which could terminate Pinkie’s ability to hypothetically bring in help.
Fortunately for Pinkie, she’s got the tools to deal with these. Sure, Golsilius is guaranteed to land hits, but her ability is specifically targeting accuracy, and Pinkie has ways to defend herself. Rainbow Power in particular is armed with an omnidirectional barrier that could easily no-sell Lord Tirek’s attack even after he had absorbed all the magic in Equestria, a defense that has nothing to do with accuracy and can keep Golsilius out. Even if Golsilius did manage to get through, Pinkie’s regen and Panacea can undo her progress at basically any time, especially with any clones she might have running around to play a medical support role. Pinkie also doesn’t really rely on summons, so Meteor Storm doesn’t really change much of her playbook. Discord and Twilight Sparkle have both been shown to be capable of creating allies or minions from scratch just as is or with hard light illusions respectively, something that bypasses this power null, and would also enable Pinkie’s clones to continue joining the fight as multidimensional beings that can enter the fray themselves rather than needing a direct summon.
That just leaves Dropkick. Being able to terminate amps is certainly useful, and it could shut off any speed boosts Pinkie might give herself with spells like Accelero, setting the fighters back on even footing. But there’s a catch, and that’s how magic in MLP works. Golsilius generally uses this in more of an RPG setting, where the enemy doesn’t immediately get to set their amps back up because of game mechanics. Magic in Equestria doesn’t play like that, and characters like Twilight, Discord, or Pinkie are able to activate their magic whenever they want, at will, and however much they want or can handle. In short, Pinkie can just reactivate her amps immediately, and Golsilius would have to use Dropkick again, and then Pinkie can reactivate them, you get the idea. Golsilius can’t remove Pinkie’s buffs instantly, and due to how fast pony magic triggers, the lost time is basically negligible. As for arguments that Golsilius could try to shut off Pinkie’s higher forms, it likely wouldn’t work. Chaos Magic can be safely stored in the Bewitching Bell for later use if Pinkie ran into a snag there, and the Magic of Friendship has successfully triggered itself even when Twilight Sparkle’s magic was shut off by King Sombra. Even when the ability was completely absorbed away by the Knights of Order or the Mane 6 had all their magic absorbed by Tirek, the Harmony Magic was able to immediately reactivate, just ignoring these means of shutting it off and coming back in. It could even restore the previously lost magic to the user like it did for Equestria after Tirek’s rampage, so if Golsilius managed to shut down Pinkie’s base abilities or Chaos Magic, Harmony Magic can very likely just set her back on course just as easily. It’s already a bit speculative if Golsilius could even attempt this to begin with, but even if she could, it wouldn’t accomplish anything. Harmony Magic has dealt with that exact tactic multiple times before and won every time, it would be the same here. In short, Pinkie survives this threat.
Pinkie Pie vs. Status Ailments
Another major threat that Golsilius brings forth is the ability to apply a number of status conditions onto her victims with each and every hit she makes. These come in a wide array of debuffs, such as dropping the target’s stats, Zombify making them take damage from their own healing moves, rendering them unable to attack, stunning or blinding them, etc. She also has access to Lethal Hit, which can automatically kill the target with no questions asked if connected. Each of these statuses and more are activated randomly on every hit, so if Golsilius starts landing hits consistently past Pinkie’s shields, status ailments could start piling on rapidly, or worse, Lethal Hit could kill the mare instantly.
But that’s where Pinkie’s own RPG rubbish kicks into gear to shut this problem down in its tracks. Panacea rises up once again to be annoying, and its existence is the single biggest counter to this entire matter. Remember, Panacea isn’t just a full heal, it’s also a complete status cleanser, purifying the user of any and all status ailments that might be afflicting them as well. And of course, the debuffs Golsilius might try to apply absolutely qualify. In short, anytime Golsilius starts slapping Pinkie with debuffs, Pinkie can easily just remove them with Panacea, setting her back to normal and restoring her health to the max, undoing all progress Golsilius was making. And with Pinkie’s clones waiting in the wings and the spell’s ability to be used multiple times, there’s plenty of Panacea to go around, so Golsilius is not able to wait this healing out. Zombify’s ability to turn healing into damage might seem like an immediate game changer, but given Panacea purifies statuses as well at the same time, Pinkie barely escapes getting cheesed to death by that debuff, as the spell will cure her of that ailment to go with the healing.
That, of course, leaves Lethal Hit. In fairness, given the number of debuffs in the available pool and the fact that each one triggered is random, Golsilius only has about a 3% chance of ever landing Lethal Hit on any given hit, so the odds of it ever coming out quickly are laughable. Even still, if she did get one, Panacea can nullify death and defeat conditions as well, and Pinkie’s clones are still hanging around. Any one of them could revive or cure a downed Pinkie with this spell, undoing the matter entirely. And given Lethal Hit is only a 3% chance of hitting at any opponent, there is absolutely no way Golsilius can clean out every Pinkie on the board in time before literally any of them just trigger a Panacea at will.
Of course, of that lineup, there are 3 debuffs that remain a problem. Can’t Act, DMG Taken Amplified, and Singed/Toxicosis/Tune. These 3 all cannot be removed by heals, meaning they are the only ones that can survive Panacea’s inevitable purge. But none of them are game changers. Can’t Act can stop a given Pinkie from attacking, but she can still act as a healer or provide support or damage through other methods, such as triggering items or raising defenses, or just stall and wait the effect out. DMG Taken Amplified makes Pinkie take more damage, but that damage can still be undone at any time. And the last trio simply does squat against Pinkie’s physical regen. Varied as they may be, none of the debuffs can actually finish the job, and the vast majority of them will immediately be purged out by Pinkie’s catch all heal anyway. It’s an impressive trick that can give Pinkie some problems, but Panacea prevails. Pinkie survives this threat.
Pinkie Pie vs. Primal Beast Physiology
During the events of Umamusume’s crossover with Granblue Fantasy, the character Lyria compares Golsilius’ presence to that of a Primal Beast. While this might initially seem like just a one-off comment, it’s actually a lot more important than you might think. Given this distinct comparison, as well as the fact that in-game, Golsilius is essentially just a reskin of the boss Lucillius (down to the names and titles being similar), there’s a clear comparison being made between Golsilius and other Primal Beasts within the world of Granblue Fantasy. This is important because, well…to put it bluntly, Primal Beasts are ridiculously powerful.
If we’re to take this comparison seriously and say that Golsilius shares the same physiology and abilities as other Primal Beasts, then that makes her tremendously more powerful, granting her access to an assortment of abilities and essentially just buffing the hell out of her. There’s a lot, so while we’re not going to go over everything, we do want to highlight the important ones that actually play a big role as far as this debate is concerned.
- Acausality : Noa, a Primal Beast, retained knowledge on changes to history itself, acknowledging characters explicitly written into history who did not exist prior. Primal Beasts are also unaffected by time resets and similarly time-based abilities.
- Non-Physical Interaction : Primal Beasts are able to interact with both ghosts and people’s souls. Additionally, they can also protect the minds and souls of their respective vessels/avatars from foreign intruders.
- Possession & Mind Destruction : Primal Beasts are capable of possessing people and taking over their minds entirely. This can result in the complete consumption of the victim’s mind, leaving them as nothing more than an empty husk.
- Soul Manipulation : Primal Beasts can directly target and attack people’s souls directly, being capable of completely destroying a victim’s soul from within their own consciousness outright.
This, of course, also isn’t including the nifty amount of extra resistances Golsilius gains as a result of her physiology, with some notable ones including…
- Soul Manipulation, Memory Manipulation, and Mind Manipulation : Primal Beasts are essentially immune to any attempts of control from external forces, which includes things that may affect their minds and memories. As previously aforementioned, Primal Beasts are also able to simply regenerate from their souls in the event that they get damaged.
- Basically All Status Ailments : As both a Primal Beast and an in-game raid boss, Golsilius naturally has the “Debuff Resistance” effects, which gives her resistance to any and all in-game status effects. For a refresher on what those are, feel free to go back to Gold Ship’s Forms section.
- Regeneration Negation, Durability Negation, and Existence Erasure : While not completely immune, Primal Beasts are capable of at the very least resisting the Avatar’s power of the void, a power capable of killing Primal Beasts and erasing them entirely, down to the very concept they embody.
While these aren’t everything Primal Beasts are capable of, it does paint a pretty clear picture of Golsilius being an extremely potent threat if her comparisons to other Primal Beasts are to be taken seriously. It not only grants her soul-based regeneration on par with Pinkie Pie, putting the two on even footing, but it also gives Golsilius the explicit ability to directly target and destroy Pinkie Pie’s soul, something Gold Ship on her own was lacking and giving her a very clear way of putting Pinkie down for good. Coupled with her added resistances, and it makes former advantages such as Pinkie’s superior Time Manipulation and Age Manipulation more moot points. In this regard, it’s clear to say that Golsilius gets a leg up here.
Of course, we do need to give Pinkie some credit as well. While Golsilius does score a solid win-condition in destroying Pinkie’s soul and shuts down many of Pinkie’s previous routes to victory, there are still some catches. The Elements are able to block Edem from destroying Pinkie’s mind or other similar tricks, so that method of attack is null, and Edem’s only path to victory is soul destruction. While this will work, that’s not to say it would be easy. Pinkie is still armed with a horde of clones and Panacea, meaning Golsilius has to wipe the board clean in one shot or else Pinkie can undo her progress entirely still. Even if a Pinkie’s soul did get destroyed, a clone’s Panacea can bring that back into the picture, while Pinkie is free to scatter herself across the multiverse, or start locking down dimensions or hiding in non-realities. Golsilius has no way to follow Pinkie if she does either of these, and it is an absolute must that she destroy every single Pinkie out there, or they can undo her progress at any time and resume the battle immediately. Pinkie can essentially stall Golsilius out as long as she wants or start planting more clones of herself freely, making this win-con extremely difficult for Edem to achieve if not impossible if a Pinkie chooses to hunker down in a locked or non-reality. Still, difficult as it may be, it is a win-condition, so at this point we need to analyze if Pinkie has a way to bring Edem down before this could happen sooner or later.
Pinkie Pie vs. Law Manipulation
With both Pinkie Pie and Golsilius being so absurdly hard to kill, this debate now shifts to the other perspective. Golsilius has only one route to victory, that being to purge the souls of every Pinkie out there before any of them use Panacea or make more clones. Technically not impossible, but absurdly difficult. Now, Pinkie’s offense finally hits the field, and we’ve got to see if her offense has a way to chip through Golsilius reliably before Golsilius can complete the agonizing slog of wiping every Pinkie out. We’ve already been over that Golsilius cannot be killed conventionally, but if Pinkie has a hax or trick that can take her down regardless, that can still do the job. But first, we need to analyze if Pinkie can get through the trump card of Edem’s defenses, her law manipulation. Golsilius is able to make any attack and battle against her evolve into a race competition, terminating the enemy’s attacks and forcing them into a race. Pinkie’s offense is deadweight if she can’t attack to begin with, so it’s time to see if she has a way through this trickery.
Golsilius and her reality warping are certainly a tricky threat. Basically any attack made against her is certain to be evolved into a race sooner or later, though the timeframe and if this is a passive ability or something Golsilius needs to actively do is never elaborated on. Regardless, Edem can twist basically anything Pinkie might do into a race and terminate her efforts at battle, and while the latter can maybe resist with her own reality warping, this is a bit dubious. It is worth noting that the Rainbow of Light is capable of undoing and terminating reality warping, so firing one off could hypothetically shut Edem’s shenanigans down, though she could likely reset it afterwards as well if Pinkie doesn’t capitalize quickly enough. Still, it’s extremely likely that somehow or other, Pinkie is going to end up racing Golsilius.
That said, there are some things that need to be considered here. While Golsilius can force any attack into a race, this leaves her victims with one shining chance at overcoming her. Beat Golsilius at her own game, win the race, and the law manipulation ends. Golsilius and her power here was terminated when she lost a race, to Gold Ship herself fittingly enough. She was also transformed back into her default state of Edem, becoming far more vulnerable and needed Gold Ship to manually reactivate her greater powers. It is debatable and questionable if losing a race alone can power Golsilius down entirely, especially given the events surrounding her defeat, but at the very least, taking a race off of Edem will end the law manipulation, if nothing else. As mentioned above, Pinkie has some more debatable ways she could maybe squeak by this law manipulation issue, but they’re much more dubious. But if she pulls this off, then this evolving attack problem is just done and dusted. And so, the question is raised, can Pinkie beat Golsilius at the race in a consistent and reliable manner?
The answer might be surprising. Golsilius is notorious for her speed, pushing Gold Ship and her allies to the absolute maximum to be defeated. But against all the odds, Pinkie Pie very much does have the tools to overcome Golsilius in this contest of speed. First and foremost, we again must hearken back to stats. Unlike the vast majority of the opponents Golsilius raced against, Pinkie is her exact equal in speed. Sure, Golsilius can be argued to upscale off of feats, but so does Pinkie, so any way you slice it, they’re dead even there, and the one time Golsilius raced someone that was equal to her in speed in the form of Golshi herself, she lost. That alone is already enough to argue Pinkie could score a solid percentage of wins as is, but she’s got more than that.
Of the three major fighters here, Golsilius, and only Golsilius, is lacking in spells and powers to buff her speed. Golshi has her racing abilities and arguably The Zone, and Pinkie has a number of spells to massively enhance her speed beyond the norm, but Edem has no such tricks to pull out. And remember, Pinkie is already her equal out the gate. The contest of speed quickly and dramatically shifts in Pinkie’s favor the second she triggers spells like Accelero, Magic Acceleration, and Lightning Speed, almost immediately creating a noteworthy gap to the finish line. Sure, Golsilius can cut those buffs off with Dropkick, but she has to land that through Pinkie’s shields, and as earlier mentioned, Pinkie can immediately retrigger all of her buffs at will. Cutting off Pinkie’s buffs for a split second isn’t going to get Golsilius any closer to Pinkie anyway, given the mare is equal speed at worst. And thanks to Revolutionary Shape-Shifting, Pinkie is free to copy the physical stats of a Primal Beast, with an added buff to the primary skill of her target. And in this case, unfortunately for Golsilius, that is very obviously speed. The buffs can be attacked to some degree, but nothing stops Pinkie from pulling a Metal Sonic and taking Edem’s own speed gimmick for herself and then adding a mountain of buffs onto it to blitz away, which she can reactivate at basically any time.
Of course, one could maybe argue that Golshi herself could intervene and help Golsilius out to win. Golshi does have speed boosting abilities, and a number of tricks that could try and slow Pinkie down. But Gold Ship's speed amps are a lot more situational and context specific, such as needing to be running on a certain area or in a certain position, and usually yield smaller boosts than Pinkie’s. A 25% boost is nice, but Magic Acceleration takes the usually slower Twilight Sparkle and makes her fast enough to amaze Rainbow Dash herself, or Accelero propelling Starlight Glimmer’s basic run into crossing wide areas multiple times in a flash. And Golshi’s distractions are useful, but Pinkie is able to devour snacks like pies in a single go without trouble and is able to change into giant costumes on a whim, so she’s weirdly equipped to not be delayed by those tricks. Golshi’s odds are ironically better than Edem’s, but in a race like this, Pinkie’s toolkit still takes the cake.
Overall, Pinkie is rather likely to win the forced competition. Whether or not that shuts Golsilius down into Edem is of course arguable, but the main subject matter here was just if Pinkie could escape the law manipulation. And thanks to being able to beat Edem at her own game, she absolutely can. Pinkie survives this threat.
And with Pinkie able to survive just about everything Edem throws at her and being able to overcome the biggest defensive hurdle Golsilius has, it’s finally time to turn things on their head. The defensive ball is now in Edem’s court, as we analyze if she can weather the challenge as Pinkie’s two mightiest trump cards activate for their final attack.
Golsilius vs. Grogar’s Bewitching Bell & Rainbow Power
With Pinkie’s defenses holding, we come to the part where her offenses take center stage. While we’ve covered the vast majority of Pinkie’s abilities and weapons already, two noteworthy exceptions remain, and they’re the strongest ones in her entire arsenal. In a perhaps surprising twist of fate, the greatest threat to Golsilius is not the Chaos Magic gifted by Grogar’s Bewitching Bell, but is in fact the bell itself. Likewise, the Rainbow Power form is Pinkie at her absolute strongest, and is armed with a wide array of abilities and powers to challenge Golsilius directly.
Fortunately for Golsilius, she holds up quite nicely against the barrage. Transmutation? Nope. BFR? Not happening! Soul destruction? No chance that’s working. Golsilius is able to survive and counter each and every power Pinkie’s two greatest trump cards unleash upon her… except for one. Power absorbing.
It’s absolutely shocking, but for all the resistances and powers they have, neither Golsilius nor Gold Ship have ever resisted or countered having their abilities drained away, and Pinkie has the most potent providers in the book. Characters normally resistant to such an ability like the Royal Sisters immediately got their clocks cleaned by Grogar’s Bell, and the Rainbow Power form was able to easily rob Tirek of all the magic in Equestria. Given Golsilius has no resistance to even speak of to begin with, there’s no question whatsoever what’s going to happen once the Bewitching Bell chimes in for a fight.
Once Pinkie activates the Bewitching Bell or her Rainbow Power form, Golsilius and Gold Ship are essentially doomed. They get one-shot by this ability, and Pinkie is free to use Edem’s powers for herself to obliterate Golshi with even greater ease. And given Edem’s power is drained away and not just inactive, Gold Ship cannot reactivate her with a slap by this point, leaving Edem essentially inert and powerless, plus vulnerable to having the core of her being as a lance destroyed. This of course leaves her indefinitely unable to battle, bypassing her immortality and successfully qualifying as a “kill.” It’s slightly unorthodox, but the main matter is that Edem is permanently out of the picture, and that’s all that really needs to be done. And given the Bewitching Bell has successfully blocked attempts at being stolen by Applejack and also immediately reactivated on use after being shut off by the Rainbow of Light, Golsilius can neither attempt to steal the bell, nor can she shut it down. Even if she could, she lacks the knowledge needed to use the bell’s activation spell, and none of this helps against Rainbow Power.
It’s absolutely astonishing, but Grogar’s Bell and Rainbow Power are basically the perfect counters to Golsilius. They possess the one power Edem doesn’t have an answer to, and can immediately remove her from the fray at will. And given the bell can be used in a defensive fashion rather than directly attacking as well, it can even bypass the law manipulation reliant on being attacked, saving Pinkie the trouble of having to win a race first. This is a dramatically easier win-condition for Pinkie to achieve than Golsilius destroying all her clones before Panacea activates, and one that she has multiple methods of doing that are in-character. Golsilius may be an absolutely astonishing force to be reckoned with, but once Pinkie activates her mightiest magic or unleashes the might of the Bewitching Bell, Edem’s time in this battle is over and done. Her magic is Pinkie’s property, and Golshi’s fate is entirely sealed, putting an end to this absolute mammoth of a debate at last.
Conclusion
Advantages:
- Stronger at quantifiable ends…
- …But both of their high-end stats even out, making stats a moot point
- Smarter and much quicker to adapt
- More experienced and skilled, and has a history of prevailing against unpredictable forces similar to Golshi or reality warpers not unlike Golsilius
- Can match Golshi’s stamina in her stronger forms
- A majority of their arsenals and abilities cancel each other out…
- …But Pinkie also has abilities Gold Ship has no counters for such as Dimension Locking and Age Manipulation
- Time Pony physiology and item stealing enable Pinkie to stop the Alarm Clocks
- Superior regeneration combined with Panacea and can kill Gold Ship reliably with soul destruction
- Has the tools to survive just about anything Golsilius throws at her and can consistently beat her in the forced race, shutting down law manipulation
- Clones, multidimensional existence, non-reality access, and Panacea make Edem’s one win-condition of destroying the souls of every Pinkie absurdly difficult and easy to stall from or escape
- Grogar’s Bewitching Bell and Rainbow Power are immediate win buttons
Disadvantages:
- Slower without immeasurable ends
- Dramatically inferior stamina in base form
- Can be rewound in time by an Alarm Clock if she doesn’t deal with them beforehand
- Definitively loses if Golsilius successfully obliterates the souls of Pinkie and every single clone she may have out
- My Little Pony’s reputation in VS
Advantages:
- Faster at quantifiable ends…
- …But both of their high-end stats even out, making stats a moot point
- Drastically superior stamina over Pinkie’s base form
- Alarm Clocks could give Gold Ship do-overs if things go south…
- A majority of their arsenals and abilities cancel each other out…
- Golsilius’ Primal Beast Physiology grants her soul-based regeneration comparable to Pinkie, as well as ways to directly target and destroy her soul
- Golsilius’ Law Manipulation is an incredibly tricky and difficult ability to work around…
Disadvantages:
- Very rarely deals with opponents quite like Pinkie
- …But they cannot erase her memories of the fight and are easily disposed of or worse, stolen
- …But Gold Ship has no answer for things such as Dimension Locking and Age Manipulation
- Has no way to keep Pinkie down permanently on her own
- …but it is something Pinkie Pie can overcome
- Grogar’s Bell and other similar Power Absorption abilities at Pinkie’s disposal are basically just GGs
- Your trainee lacked the Guts to sustain her run towards the end of the race.
This battle has an absolute ton going on. For any one factor to consider, several more come up in tandem to that once you think you’ve got it figured out. Two fighters that are likely dead even in stats is already insanely close by the standards of any fight, and with the sheer abundance of what both sides are capable of doing, it almost seems like there is no fathomable end to the variables that rush into play at any second, especially with Chaos and Harmony Magic joining the fray against Golshi’s trump card Edem.
However, if you manage to sift through the incessant madness, the general idea is that Gold Ship has the more immediately pressing offense, while Pinkie bolsters an impressive defense. Pinkie’s defense covers pretty much every ability Golshi and Edem have, rendering her absurdly hard to permanently take down with her arsenal of regen, healing, and clones enabling her to escape otherwise certain doom at any time. Conversely, while Golshi and Edem resist and counter the vast majority of Pinkie’s playbook, they are held back by just a few but prominent missing points. Neither of them are able to traverse reality as well as Pinkie or attack her if she hides in a non-reality. They can’t get past Pinkie’s dimension locking. Gold Ship can have her age manipulated or be turned 2D. Pinkie’s danger sense is better. Golshi is helpless if Pinkie attacks her soul. And perhaps most important of all, Golsilius has absolutely no answer to Grogar’s Bewitching Bell or the Rainbow Power form draining away all of her power, basically ending the battle immediately.
Don’t let the outcome deceive you, this fight is nightmarishly close, and Gold Ship is an absolutely devastating force. Her incredible stats, wide array of abilities, and jaw-dropping support from Golsilius makes her nigh-on unbeatable. But the combination of Chaos and Harmony is just something that can make the impossible completely possible, and it’s only a matter of time before the Bell rings for the Red Strife and Primal Beast. As all chaos and madness finally cease to tear across the panels, Laughter will prevail against Strife, and Equestria’s hero will be racing back home to party another day.
The winner is…

Pinkie: Stand Proud Goldshi, you were funny
ReplyDeleteDespite the memes, wacky abilities and disgustingly powerful scaling, her lack of wit and her inability to close down the race meant that Pinkie Pie always looked to be the Front Runner!
